Oh no!
According to a report in the newspaper, soybean aphids are wreaking havoc this year. Not only are the soybean growers very unhappy, and facing financial difficulties, but so are the rest of us people.
You see, the imported Multicolored Asian Ladybugs (MALB) feast on this bug. And their numbers multiply very quickly. These are the ones that invade homes in the fall, and cause all the problems. Our Extension Office is giving early advance warning that they could be bad again this year.
Take precautions, if you can. Or at least have your vacuum cleaner ready when they begin to arrive. If you are allergic to them, please take extra care!
Oh shudder. I am not looking forward to another bad year. A couple of years ago (fall 2000) I had so many in the hallway that they crunched as I walked down the hall. Yuck :~O
