Beautiful! it takes a few weeks for the seeds to ripen, you will see the pods where the blooms were, when the pod covering starts to turn brown and papery, the seeds are ready to harvest.
Carena,
Thanks for posting the pics of the seed pods. This is my first year for collecting and I have not seen one mature seed pod yet. I see I will have to be more patient.
thank you SOOOOOOOOO much carena, HUGS!!:X:X:X:X:X:X
TLC - Good luck!! When they're ready, you'll know. The pods become dry and papery and just crumble when you roll your fingers over them. I try to wait as long as possible, even up to frost - hoping they'll get as much ripening as possible.
Thanks for the encouragement, sbarr!
be warned, the seeds will pop right out when they are ripe! I learned to always hold my hand under the pods when I pick them, I sometimes just snip the pod stem and let the whole thing drop into a bowl so I don't lose any.
Thanks, Carena
