K.C. DGers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blue Springs, MO(Zone 5b)

Hey HEY!!! I'm BAAAACK!!!! I think everyone SHOULD bring plants and seeds and whatever they get their hands on - I'll take anything and everything - haha!! :) I was shelling Morn Glory seeds when Tracy - I mean Mercy - called to tell me about this - it's a SIGN!!!! Leaflady - do you have an "in" at PG???? I went there for the first time a few weeks ago - Butterfly Festival - WOW!! My five foot Iggy would LOVE the hibiscus (it's the only plant he can eat ALL of) - wish I could bring him, too - LOL!!! I'm sooo excited!! Can't wait to meet everyone!! Byeeeee!

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

This date should work for me as well - put me on the list! I still haven't caught up with Tracy, but Lord willing, I will soon meet her. I can bring LOTS of seeds - perennials, annuals, tropicals. Somebody, PLEASE - bring some brug cuttings or passiflora plants or plumeria cuttings!!!!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Yeah, when can gardeners get together and NOT bring plants and seeds. LOL

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Your on there Kay,will be great to meet you!!!
I have some cuttings going, and seeds, come on Chef you know me better then that, this time if I forget anything,I can just run home and get it!

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

If the Lord is willing I will be there for sure. I need to take my dear grandson his fish and their tank so I can make the trip do double duty.
I do have one plant request. If anyone has sprouts of dark rose or bright pink Rose of Sharon I would dearly love to have one or two. Single or double, I just want that color. I have some sprouts I think are from a white with dark red center I can bring. I also have dozeens of tiny Mimosa tree sprouts. I have found that the smaller they are the better the chance of getting them to accept a transplant. I'll have them potted individually in cellpack pots.
Tracy, please let me contribute to the snacks. I love to cook and it really won't be any trouble for me. Cookies maybe? Or sugarfree banana bread for diabetics or dieters in the group. My husband is diabetic so I have lots of experience in cooking with Splenda.
GOD bless each of you.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Oh Root!

LOL I had forgotten what happened to you last Spring and certainly was not trying to put a barb in your backside.

That was such a wonderful gathering. Some of us had very little to bring . . . we had such great hopes of what we could bring but some things died; for me a late surprise snowstorm zapped a bunch of seedlings that I was working at hardening off; everyone was so giving and sharing and no one cared or measured how much each of us brought. And we all went home with our vehicles overloaded.

I did feel guilty about the Sago Palms you forgot. I really should pay you for them or did you find a good home for them?

Independence, MO(Zone 5a)

Hello everyone!

I have sent emails to all that have posted here If for some reason you did not get an email from me please let me know. I have sent some info that i did not want to post on the internet for a bazillion eyes to see....LOL

My goodness, Bob! What plant is that growing in the pic!! Those are humongous! I think Mary and I will be riding together.

Just got 125 bulbs in today and some clematis arrive tomorrow. Another 173 bulbs arriving in a week or so. I may just have to bring some of them to share on Sunday cuz I don't know how I'm gonna get 300 bulbs in the ground anytime soon....time's running out. They just said on the news that we might see first frost this weekend! 5 days to go!!

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

Frost this weekend?! Well, the plant room is almost ready to start recieving plants for the winter season. However I discovered this afternoon that many of the pots had baby slugs on the bottoms of them so that means eggs in the soil. I'll have to repot all my plants after removeing every crumb of soil and washing them good in soapy water to make sure I don't bring in slug eggs or anything else for that matter. I mush have destroyed at least 3 dozen baby slugs. It's hard to treat for them in the soil without killing off the earthworms tho.

Blue Springs, MO(Zone 5b)

FROST???? Noooooo!!!! I'm not EVEN ready for summer to be over!!! Yikes!! I have decided to try to make my iguana's outside habitat into a greenhouse for the winter (Tracy's making me do it) - I better start researching! I'm about to post a pic of the gorgeous & creepy Black Widow spider Tracy brought over for a visit...hmmm, what Forum to put her in? Hey - we need a Halloween Forum - haha!! :)

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

OK, KCDG'ers - We are on the downhill run to our get-together, and Tracy is planning on "puttin' on the dog"! She has been working in her yard to make it look good, and boy, does it ever look nice. We will all have a good time swapping plants/seeds and stories, eating and talking - Tracy has made double-sure it will be a nice event, so come one and all. If you can't make it, please email her because she is making plans for about 20 people. Excitement is in the air!!!!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

This will be fun, remember,No pressure on bringing plants or seeds, don't worry if you do not have anything to spare now,it is fall, the swap will be in spring, but I still bet nobody goes home empty handed knowing Tracy!

This is gonna be fun,so wear your Happy Dancing shoes! And bring a big smile!!!!

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

I can hardly wait until Sunday. As soon as we pick up things after Communion we will be out the church door and headed for the party. Since there have been 2 deaths in the families of my employers and another employee I've been putting in extra hours. That means I likely won't be able to dig as many sprouts as I would like to have. But I do have several dried Mimosa seed pods which is the best way to get them anyway.
GOD bless and keep each of you. And may you all have a safe trip.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Looking forward to seeing you,I gotta get the skinny on how the chicks are doing,I wish I had room to raise one of them!

Independence, MO(Zone 5a)

I lost my own thread there for a few days...lol
Tam tam you can post the black widow here...wow she was really creepy, i found her down back while i was digging ...i took her up to the nature center, to let them deal with her. She will not be attending our garden party...she really creeped me out

I am so excited to have everyone here, i told the kids. DO NOT leave on Saturday, YOU HAVE chores...lol so anything that isnt done you will know they didnt listen....lol

no one will go home empty handed I am sure of it. root wouldnt ever let that happen would ya root? he would probably end up running home and digging up a plant if it meant someone going home without something....

I have also invited a few others in this area that do not belong to daves yet. And my hubbys wonderful grandmother who i just love, will try to make it. a wonderful friend Jeff who is into organic gardening, the neighbor down the street and my partner Vicki. It is gonna be great. They all have a passion for flowers and gardens.

it is getting CLOSE guys...only 2 more days...yikes were down to hours now!

Huggers to all

It is the final countdown...I dont think i will be able to sleep tonight..

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

I don't believe I would be letting THAT particular spider live. Looks a lot like a Black Widow to me. Having been bitten by one as a child I have no use for them. It wasn't a pleasant experience. A couple weeks of my life have vanished with little or no recall of what happened except being very sick and nearly losing my ability to use that hand for some time afterward. That is why I am somewhat ambidextrious to this day.
I am looking forward to this afternoon too. Made sugar free banana bread last night after work. Just one loaf so will likely buy some SF cookies too. I collected some seeds to bring but probably won't get any sprouts dug now. Rootdoctor, what color/cultivar EEs are you bringing me? I am so new to those that anything will be welcome. I tried to keep some going last winter but the mealy bugs were so bad I had to cut off the tops and let them dry up until spring. Replanted them this spring with very mixed results. Then PG threw out some the past few weeks and I got them. One seems to have mushy stuff on the bottom of the bulb tho so I'm rather dubvious about how long it will survive. Don't know for sure, but it seems to have come from the Island Garden there which means it was likely growing in a lot of water. The other pot just looked like smaller ones they decided they didn't need anymore.
Must go. GOD bless and grant traveling safety to all today.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I have an Alo. Mac. for you Leaf.
I am getting excited, can you tell,up at 7 am on sunday.
