Clarifying Self Pollination

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I wanted to make sure I understood correctly what self pollination means. If a plant is self pollinating, does that mean that a single bloom can pollinate itself and reproduce (produce seeds)? Does a self pollinating plant need multiple blooms to self pollinate? What exactly does "self pollination" mean?

Thanks ☺

Self-pollination means transfer of pollen to stigma of the same flower. There only needs to be one bloom.

Thanks, Cala. I just wasn't certain. This is amazing to me that a plant can just reproduce by itself with just one bloom!

Yes, after I posted the first time, I went looking for something that would explain it better than I could.
