I wanted to make sure I understood correctly what self pollination means. If a plant is self pollinating, does that mean that a single bloom can pollinate itself and reproduce (produce seeds)? Does a self pollinating plant need multiple blooms to self pollinate? What exactly does "self pollination" mean?
Thanks ☺
Clarifying Self Pollination
Self-pollination means transfer of pollen to stigma of the same flower. There only needs to be one bloom.
Thanks, Cala. I just wasn't certain. This is amazing to me that a plant can just reproduce by itself with just one bloom!
Hey cool. I was wondering about that one too :)
Here is a link about pollination. Use the back and next buttons to see more pollination stuff. http://www.botany.uwc.ac.za/ecotree/flowers/pollination1.htm
Wonderful site with great explanations, Cala! Thanks so much! Did you just find this site?
Yes, after I posted the first time, I went looking for something that would explain it better than I could.
I like simple explanations AND pictures! This site had both :) Thanks again for all your help!!!
