sea-weed

cape may court house, NJ(Zone 6a)

I've been told that sea-weed is great for a flower garden.
Not certain as to how this is done.
I live at the shore so the above is easy to get.
Do you just put it down or dilute this, somehow?
Thanks,
Sandy

Sea weed is great stuff :) I've read that some people will use it as is, for a mulch in their gardens if the have enough of a supply. You can add it to your compost pile... it will add lots of minerals and nutrients and breaks down quickly.

After you collect it spread it out and give it a rinse with the hose to wash off the extra salt.

Thanks Poppysue:
I'll go out for some tomorrow.
Easy to get and best of all it's free!
Would go out now but, going stargazing!
The astrnomy club has a star gazing party at the state forest.
Excited that I'll see Mars,.
and maybe get a good start on identifying the stars.
Life is good, amazing, some of the awesome wonders are free!
Sandy.
thanks again

Some of the irish isles had no soil, so the locals brought up great quantities of seaweed to produce their growing fields. Check out http://www.amrep.org/past/cripple/cripple3.html

I'll have to remember to collect some next time I'm at the ocean. Won't I look funny to everyone picking up shells? I'll be picking up seaweed!
