Ironite AND Epsomgrow - OK to use both?

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Hi,

Just purchased some Ironite (liquid formula 6-7-6) and some Epsomgrow (Epsom salt). Anyone know if there is any harm to using both these supplements at once?

Anyone know if either will help my yellowing, pale Clematis that I planted this year - it has stopped growing, never did flower - it is the red one Ernest Markum. My Dahlias are also rather pale green with drab color in the flowers. Hoping these things will help.

Hi! I use both products at the same time on my roses, but not a whole lot of either at any one time.

My soil is very alkaline, so I scatter ironite all over my property using a broadcast spreader twice a year -- in early spring and again in mid-summer. (I go through 50 lbs a year.) My lawn, beds and groundcovers all get this treatment.

For my roses I use 1/4 cup of epsom salt per medium to large shrub mixed with 1 tsp ironite mixed with 1 quart of compost to top-dress my roses every month.

I think as long as you don't use a whole lot at any one time, you won't harm your plants. Hope your flowers perk up!

If you feed high potash fertilize to clematis, they will develop yellow leaves due to magnesium deficiency so the epsom salts should help. Use one ounce to 10 sq. ft. Clematis don't like really acid soil, so be careful with the ironite.

Lupine & Cala, thanks for posting the above info, I copied. I too have very alkaline soil. I use a lot of sulfur, scatter it on my compost piles as well as around my plants. Have used some Epsom but never used Ironite , will have to get some. Donna
