Bernzomatic Outdoor Torch

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

Got this puppy yesterday so we can fry our weeds instead of using chemicals. Looks like a cane and you attach propane to the handle and hit the trigger to start and VOILA! you have a little torch with which to fry weeds.

Nice, but the puppy came with absolutely NO instructions whatsoever except for how to turn it on.

Do you have one? How do you use it? Do you have to fry each weed to the ground, or if not, how much frying does it take to kill a weed so you can move on to the next one? It seemed to take a very long time ... and it never did totally fry the bigger ones (a buckthorn and a big poke weed).

Your help will be MOST appreciated!

I have one, and I'm not real happy with it. Fortunately it was a gift. It takes forever to kill some weeds and it uses a lot of propane. Mine also flames out if I don't have the gas perfectly regulated which never seems to happen. Yeah you pretty much have to stand over each weed until its fried. One thing I do use it for is keeping the wire grass from creeping into my gravel driveway. I would not buy one based on my experience.

Whatever you do, DON'T try to burn poison ivy with it! The oils that give you the rash are airborne in the smoke. Think of how bad it would be to have a poison ivy rash on the inside.
