Do possums eat garden plants? My dog has caught the same possum 3 times in the last 2 weeks, every time it was near the gardens. Some of my plants are damaged, but I cant really tell what its from. I dont really want to kill the possum, so I hope there is some solution to keeping him/her away from my plants without resorting to having it killed. Any info would be great.

My dad has them and they seem to like scarlet runner beans but do not seem to bother anything else.

Thanks for the info. I think I will just let it be. The link above says they eat bugs, sounds good to me. This is the only animal my dog has ever been able to catch. Possumn self defense mechanism is very good, my dog doesnt know what to do when it flops over, probably why its still alive.

Lisa had a picture of a possum on another forum. Someone posted that they keep copperhead snakes away. It must be true, we have possums and haven't seen a copperhead in the yard for 12 years.
