I have telemarketing going on where I work. The "Do Not Call List" is already activated. The "deadline" is for people signing up for the list. If you get a call, tell them you are on the "Do Not Call List". If you don't use those specific words, they will ignore. However, if you do, they have to strike your name and each year they get one of those new numerical directories, they have to go through them and strike out those names. If they don't they can lose their business licence. We sell pre-need cemetery estates here, something I really believe that everyone should take care of to spare their families from doing business at a very bad time and to save money, but I still realize how annoying telemarketing can be. We only call in our little county and everyone knows us, so we don't have the problems some telemarketers have.....
Do Not Call List
Woodspirit...many years ago in Richmond, Va...I got a call from a Cemetary that wanted to send me literature on making wills....they said I would get NO calls about the sale of lots....I said OK...send it to me and gave them my address. I waited about a month to see if they would live up to their word not to try to sell me cemetary lots. Since I wanted to buy lots anyhow I called THEM and told them I was ready to have a salesman call....only because they DIDN'T call me on the phone!!
I pay for my phone for MY convenience...not some one to call and try to sell me something. Jo
That sounds like a good idea, RR. We have a family record guide book that includes all kinds of things about your estate and final plans and includes 2 wills in the back that are legal in NC if they are witnessed by 2 people.
The ones I hate are the folks who keep calling trying to sell me siding. I tell them my house is brick with vinyl trim (it's really all wood). As a historic preservationist, I loathe vinyl siding. It completely destroys the historic architectural integrity of the structure including the history itself. It's also awfully flimsy in high winds. You might be aware that high winds are something that coastal North Carolina deals with every hurricane season......
