Arlene.... I saw them last year, on my morning glories, even caught one but it died and changed to a dull orange color so no one believed me. Now I have a witness, bless you!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Do they have spots? Were they the same size as red ladybugs?

Hampstead, NC(Zone 8a)

arlene, I have seen gold ladybugs in my garden. Havn't captured any, nor been able to follow any special one. Have also seen a BRIGHT blue chamelon (wrong spelling, I know)

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

I've seen the gold bugs, too. they are similar to ladybugs in size, but I have no idea what they really are, except beautiful.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

They are not good bugs!! They are responsible for the holes in your brug leaves and also eat sweet potato vine leaves. They leave round holes in them. The milkweed leaf beetle (chrysochus cobaltinus) is blue or metalic green, the adults eat the leaves of milkweed, oleander and peaches while the larva eat the roots. The gold one is called golden Tortoise Beetle (metriona bicolor) is a garden pest that eats morning glories, sweet potato vine, raspberry, milkweed and brugmansias. The larva also eats the leaves.
Pyrethrum will kill them if it is sprayed directly on them.
