Yesterday this one had a bloom that was half pale pink and the other half was a spotted dark pink.

Some of these are a deep blue and some are a lighter shade with different size white stripes. This one may be the mystery seed from the Palace grounds. Lophophora will know for sure.

Busybee - please tell me the name of the solid blue with white centers when you find it.... ^Å^

"moon"

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

Moon, It is Akatsukiino Umi "sea"--Purplish Blue with white center. That is the pack description. They are a very dark purple.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

They are so beautiful.. I love MG.. didn't plant some this year.. but for sure next year! Yes it's so hot out here too.. I am looking foward for fall season!

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Japanese morning glories! Oh how I wish I'd gotten in on that coop. Next year, next year. Meanwhile, save some seeds! I'll be your first customer. lol :)

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Busybee, great MGs especially that second one.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

My favorite is the chocolate one. I didn`t take a pic. of it because I had already posted it when it first started to bloom.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

busybee - you've done such a wonderful job. So far, the only ones to bloom for me are the Red Moonflowers. What is your secret to success? I do know that I started very late this year - it was mid-May. Some of mine are indoors, some outdoors, many have grown leaves, but only one has shown any flowers.

Sandra

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Sandra was the red moon flower Red?

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

This one is dark blue with blueish purple spokes and a white center with a pink rim around the white.

crested - no, is't not red. More of a dark pink in the center with shading. Let me see if I can get a picture tomorrow or the next day.

busybee - ANOTHER one? Now I really feel like a bad parent. :-) What was your secret?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Busybee gets the good MG momma award! They're all gorgeous. That Akatsukiino Umi looks a lot like Hatsu Arashi.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

poppysue, I didn`t get that one (Hatsu Arashi). What color is it? The Umi isn`t blue it is almost a royal purple. I don`t know why the photo came out to look blue. The last photo is blue with purple spokes only the purple shows up as dark blue. The tag has faded on it.

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Is there going to be another Japanese MG coop??? Hmmmm???

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

perking up....Lenjo, ya think that might be a good idea? :)

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I think it will be a very good idea!! Round #3.

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

me too sandra, don't let me miss it!

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

WOW!!
Mary, you have a lovely collection of morning glories. The Japanese vines must be more robust then most of our native morning glories. Beautiful pics.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Here's Hatsu Arashi. the foliage isn't variegated ... just plain green.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

Thanks flicker. Vines are a favorite of mine as long as they bloom. These are really large blooms.

poppysue, I just went and checked to make sure and the leaves are varigated but the flower is a dark purple, not the blue that the photo shows. Is your Hatsu Arashi a blue or purple flower?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

LOl! I knew you'd ask that. It depends on the weather! Some days I think it is definitely true blue. And then there are days when it looks more purple.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

This one is a velvety purple with a maroon center and varigated leaves. On most of the ones that are striped or spotted there is no two flowers that look alike. the dark pink one above will have all speckels on one bloom and the next will have a bloom with a solid color on 1/3 of the bloom with streaks or speckels or both on the rest of it. I love to watch these to see what the vine will create next.

This is Akatsuki no Haru (faded pink) It has a white center. not my favorite but still a pretty flower.

As you can tell it is 10:30 here and too late to be taking photos of morning glories. This one has already started to close up.

I definetly want to be in on a Jap. MG co-op if there is one next year. i didn't find out about it until too late this year. I bought a variegated MG somewhere, when my daughter and i were in Oregon, the label just said variegated leaf. It is very pretty, but bloomed down in the foliage at first and i didn't see the blooms. A week or so ago I did see a bloom, very very sheer white bloom, quite large, about 5" in diameter. But haven't been able to get a picture of it. it is planted in a 15" planter on my deck in pretty much full sun, and I think it must start blooming in the dark, by the time it is light enough to take a picture the bloom is folding. Sounds like moonflower, not morningglory. Very beautiful, can you post a pic?

Tokyo, Japan

busybee!!!!

Congrats on your abundance of beautiful blooms! And thanks for posting all those great pics!

As for the "Mystery I.P.M.G.", I think this one is closer to what I saw when I found the seeds:
