Parks has some great deals on seeds (50-75% off)

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Hi folks - not sure if people get their mailings, but Parks just sent out their end of summer seeds discount list - some of the stuff is 75% off. Many of them can be sown in the Fall so this is a great chance to stock up.

One thing I did notice - so watch out for it. On my order, the shopping cart and the checkout amount were DIFFERENT. When I tried to check out, it was $10 more ($29.62 vs. $19.80). Most of the items were discounted accurately, but there were a few items that didn't get marked down at checkout - so I am going to call in my order via phone and get the prices adjusted first so I don't have to try and get a credit. Just wanted people to be aware.

Update - called Parks. They're working on it - and you still need to send in the order via the web. But, they can adjust if necessary before "picking" the order. Just tried, and now the site seems to be down. With my luck, the stuff I want will be gone! ;-)

the same thing happened to me. the order was $10 more than it should have been. I am going to call tomorrow. I sure hate to send in a wrong amount, but it is a great sale.

I had the same experience. I'm wondering if there is supposed to be a special code to enter in the discount code box. Anybody know?

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Hi there - no, not a special code.

Just make sure and call back early this morning and they can adjust the total before charging your card. It sounded like a technical problem they knew about. I was overcharged again when I sent in my order yesterday afternoon, so I sent my confirmation mail BACK to them and will follow up with a call later today. I'd suggest others with the same problem do the same thing. My guess, probably far easier to adjust BEFORE the charge goes through than AFTER.

I just called Parks and they took my order over the phone. It sounds like they have had a hellish day. Anyway just wanted to let you know they will take the orders via telephone.

Thanks Sandra, just ordered some seeds. Linda

You are soooo bad Sandra!

Now I have seeds coming!

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks for letting us know they will take phone orders! Sounds so much easier all around. My order will be phoned in today! So many plants can be sown in the fall to over-winter that it seems an ideal time for sowing!

Why don't nurseries offer seeds in the fall???? I would love to have fresh supplies locally. Gotta talk to some of my friends who run local nurseries.

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Uh oh - I just got the notice for half-price gardening supplies. Everything from seed trays to tomato cages and marker tags. Groan - off to order some more. These are some of the things I've been kicking myself for not getting earlier - esp. things like the zinc markers for $0.20 each. Maybe I still have a chance to figure out what things are and tag them.

Question here - I'll hijack my own thread. Does anyone know of a good source for 24-30" fencing. The kind you set up in panels, usually connected by a slightly taller post. I have two dogs that will get into stuff, but, if there is a fence, they play by the rules and even though they're 75-90 pounds each - will NOT go over a fence. I did the wire ones this year, worked OK, but now they're bent from being slammed into.

Sandra, I have seen the fencing at K-mart and Wal-mart earlier in the season. I think they are out of it now but our local farm store still has some of it.
