Is it Buddleia or Buddleja? Buddleja seems odd to spell, and odd to pronounce. The AHS and the RHS spell it Buddleja with the family being Buddlejaceae. Is this a recent change in spelling?
Butterfly Bush
Stearn's Dictionary of Plant Names for Gardeners say:
Buddle'ja f. Butterfly bush. Ornamental small trees and shrubs. Named in honour of Reverend Adam Buddle (1660-1715), English botanist and vicar of Farmbridge in Essex. Often spelled Buddleia but spelled Buddleja by Linneaus.
Another reference I have says Buddleja syn. Buddleia.
Looks like some say potato, while others say potatoe. :-}
