I'm hoping that BuriedTreasures and/or some other folks can help here. Dredging the web for Caladium cultivars, I was able to compile ~ 100 varieties that are fairly widely available. Some sites report that there are 1,000 - 2,000 named varieties, but nobody seems to have a good list, not online anyway. (And if most of them are lost to cultivation it doesn't make much sense to add them to the PDB.)
Anyway, after spending some time going through these, I had a few that I wasn't sure were actual/valid names:
'Aponsawan'
'Cinderella'
'Citation'
'Elizabeth Lou'
'Horatio Cid'
'Houlong'
'Jaccarat'
'Juno'
'Little Rascal'
'Luanrat'
'Parichat'
'Sorrcaba' (or 'Saracada'? 'Sorocaba'?)
And is 'Thomas Tomlinson' also known as 'Tom Tom'? (It would make sense if it is, but I couldn't find any confirmation that they are synonyms...)
Please help with some off-beat Caladiums :)
Terry, a local nursery sold 'Juno' this year; I bought one (how could I resist?) but the nametag got confused with the other ones I got, so not sure which is which. When they are all growing well (I planted them in early June), I will scan a couple leaves from each variety and see if anyone can positively ID.
