I ordered a santa fosa plum tree from one of my Michigan catalogs. The tree arrived at 4 foot, bare root and looking pretty good. I planted it and faithfully watered it. I pruned the top branches where there would be 4. After about a month I could see nothing happening and cut about 6" off the top and they were completely dry. I thought It was dead and left it alone anyway. Now all of a sudden I am seeing growth from the ground. What do I do now? I sure don't want it to be a "bush". Also one book says it needs a pollinator and another says it doesn't. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks so much
