Gee, maybe we could keep our old king mattress set as a spare. Yes, Howie would love for me to squirrel that away in some non-existent storage cubby!
I'm so excited - I have to tell y'all about this!
Gardenwife,
You are an incredible photographer. I just love the pics. You should be doing this for a living! And, enjoy that new mattress!!!! God is Good :-))
Thank you! I would really love to do this for a living, and I need to find out how to most efficiently market myself and my photographs. This was such an unexpected thing, like I said.
We picked out our mattress yesterday - soon as that check comes, we're getting it. We can't WAIT! Howie said if we had room still, the dogs deserved their own king-size bed in their own suite, LOL. I'd like to convert the corner of our office to a little studio area with some backdrops. The light coming in the front window is usually so nice, and it's where I get the best pictures of them.
you could start dressing them in clothes like some other famous dogs. Aimee could make you some beautiful costumes. LOL
I especially like the B&W pics, but both are excellent. I think you are a natural. By all means make an area for shooting, just having the area prepared at all times, it should entice one to creativity. Enjoy
you got the picture GW. I like the costume. Now if you could only get it out of the painting. LOL
And to think GW, all this advice is free!
Really, no doubt. :) And you can bet I'm making many notes!
notes like Hmmmm? Or notes like la la la la la la la la laaaaaa?
Just think the dogs you may be sleeping with are going to be more famous than you.
How wonderful for you! It never ceases to amaze me at how wonderful God is and that he cares about stuff like needing a new mattress! And to provide it through something that you love doing is just the icing on the cake! I have a friend that takes pictures and turns them into beautiful greeting cards. She mounts them on the inside so that they looked framed on the front. She puts a pretty cover over the back and sells them singly for 2.50 - 3.00 and in packets of three for 7.50
It's just a thought!

Just discovered this thread. This is so totally cool. The company probably feels just as blessed as you do, Kimberley. Out of the blue they received photos from heaven. You don't, however, mention which mattress you finally decided on. And I'm in the market for a mattress. Maybe you can share your research? And I recognize Buddy Beagle there. Any update on how he's doing in his new home?
Buddy is doing great! Dennis told us Buddy's more aggressive than he'd first thought -- He tears after Jake (his beagle companion) and chomps on him! They do a lot of tumbling around and chasing. :)
Okay, mattress stuff to follow. Just skip it if you're not interested! ;)
The mattress we are getting is made by The Original Mattress Factory - http://www.originalmattress.com/index.htm
I can't think of the name of our bed's model, but I can tell you later. It has a plush pillowtop (sewn into rather than on top of the mattress). They have factory and store locations in several states, mostly eastern and southeastern US: http://www.originalmattress.com/locator.htm and http://www.originalmattress.com/locations/s_locations.htm
We've had two of their mattresses, and my MIL has the full-size one we bought in 1993; we had to replace it with a king set in 1995 when we couldn't get the full-size box spring around the corner into the bedroom of a place we rented. That full-size is still in terrific shape, firm as ever.
The king we bought in replacement got messed up, but it was the fault of those who helped us move out of that apartment; the mattress was hinged in the middle so you could fold it, but you had to fold it top to bottom and they folded it side to side! Never was quite right after that!
They're very reasonably priced, too. We went mattress shopping Saturday and ended up coming back to the ones we knew were always good. Hey, and more dollars left over is good, too!
Their site has a lot of good information about mattresses and is worth reading through if you're in the market.

GW, I think your future will include a stint as a paparazzi.
Oh this is going to be good.
Or maybe a Puparazzi! ;)
Congratulations,this is wonderful!!!
Hey Kim with all this free advertising for the company they should just give you freebies in the future!! :-) Which reminds me...I need a new mattress!!
Great! BOy, we need a new bed frame and new mattress!!!!! We are getting us new one when we move in our new house! THE KING SIZE!
I just need a headboard and I really want a footboard too to keep the blanket from falling to the floor. :>)
Kimberley, you go girl! The pics you posted are beautiful and could easily compete with any of the "so-called" professionals. We are so happy for you. :o)
Thanks, Carol! Lani, I hear you about a footboard - I want one, too. Howie's not a fan of footboards, but maybe if we had one with spindles he could stick his feet through the holes!
Kim I hear you. My son will never want a footboard but hubby doesn't mind one since he is bed sized.
Congratulations!!!
Have you guys ever tried to "make" a bed with a footboard? They are a pain in the backside. You have to try to pick up the mattress, between the footboard, to tuck in the sheets and blankets....and if you are like my DH, he pulls the blankets out almost everynight.
We bought a new bedroom set 2 yrs. ago and it does have a footboard...BUT...the board scoops down from the sides and I have no problem. :-)
This is a pic of it right after it arrived. I didn't like the bedspread that we had, so it has since been replaced with a deep burgandy/red/gold and it really brings out the warmth of the wood. Oh, almost forgot, we had to buy a new mattress to go on it also.
Donna
Oh, now THAT is one gorgeous bed! Right now, we're sleeping sideways on our current mattress because it's more comfortable that way. Good thing I like having my feet hang over the end!
HAH! Hangin you feet over the end! I'm 6 ft 2"...many beds have me either with my feet hanging off, or my head bouncing down, lengthening my neck! I slept on the floor or a futon for over ten years to keep that from happening. However, I once did time at a friends house...sleeping in a bed with a footboard...no fun. For weeks I walked around grumbling, creeping along (slowly), wavering back and forth w/each step, and each toe on both feet were bruised black and blue from kicking the foot board in my sleep each nite! Howie...don't let GW get a foot board! Trust me! ;>)
Yup I have had to make beds with footboards and I didn't really mind some of them. I am thinking of making mine so there is a little room between the bed and the footboard but the blankets will stay on the bed when we push them down.
Shoe, our son is 6'5" or 6'6" so he knows well the agony of dee feet. These days he has been sleeping in our camp trailer for his bedroom while he starts a business and he complains almost every morning about his feet hitting the cupboard at the foot of the bed. I told him I could solve that by him going and getting me the saw for his feet. For some reason he didn't like that idea.
GW: I am so happy for you. This is great news. I am sure it is just the beginning for a new career for you. I always have thought your photos of your dogs were special. God is Good.
Congratulations Kimberley! I'm so proud of you! Now, use some of that money to buy lots and lots of film and keep taking those pictures! You've got a great start at becoming BIG TIME!!!
Hugs,
Joan
We bought the mattress this evening and they'll deliver it sometime Saturday. We are so looking forward to getting some good nights' rest!
GW,
That is the bed I want to get. But I have to wait. So I will just admire the picture of yours! LOL
I am so glad this happened to you. Sleep Tight, You will get to tell those counting sheep to get lost! HA!
You have The Original Mattress Factory out there in CA? If that's not the one you're talking about, it's worth a drive to Minnesota to get one. ;) We didn't end up liking the feel of the SelectComfort, so knew we wouldn't like the Comfortaire - We went back to the manufacturer we'd bought from in past.
Hey Kim, your pics are beautiful! I am so happy for yall.
Love ya
I was hoping they would ship, but I am not sure. I understand that their beds are really great. Otherwise we will have to check on the sleep number bed. A friend has one and just loves it. A good mattress makes all the dif in the world with back pain suferers. We will have to see.
So sometime early next week there will be a thread, "Where is Gardenwife?" and replies will be, "she is sleeping".
ROTF, that's the reply a lot when people try calling here! I've slept so badly at night that I've tried to catch up with naps during the day. As y'all know, they don't work too well. Oh, I can't wait to slumber Saturday night!
Fill us in on the ending, please! Is your new mattress everything that you were dreaming it would be? Did your pets get their new bed? Maybe your bed is so nice that you are still sleeping?!
The mattress is Heaven on earth, so nice. We got it late morning on Saturday and I broke it in with a nap.
Natura sent 2 copies of the brochure/poster they've made with the photos. I had to scan the poster in a series of partial scans and will paste them together. In the meantime, I'll post the cover and inside of the brochure in a new thread. It's so neat! :)
