Never Swat A Fly

Band Vocal

Never swat a fly

He may love another fly

He may sit with her and sigh the way I do, with you

Never harm a flea

He may have a favourite she

That he bounces on his knee the way I do, with you

Never stop a bee if he is going anywhere

You may be concluding some terrific love affair.

Be careful!

Don’t step on an ant

In the middle of a pant

He may want to but he can’t the way I do, with you.

Love this old song!! Do you know a few? Care to share?

Be My Little Baby Bumble Bee
1912

Be my little baby bumble bee.
(Buzz a-round, keep a buzz-in' 'round)
Bring home all your honey love to me.
(Little bee, little bee)
Let me spend the happy hours
Rovin' with you 'mongst the flow'rs,
And when we get where no one else can see,
(Cuddle up, cuddle up, really cud-dle up.)
Be my little baby bumble bee.

(Buzz around, keep a buzzin' round)
We'll be just as happy as can be.
(You and me, you and me, you and me)
Honey, keep a buzzin', please.
I've got a dozen cousin bees
But I want you to be my baby bumble bee.

I'm not original enough to come up with words....but look at this site, some of these are a hoot.http://home.golden.net/~dhobson/consongs.htm

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Does "Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee" count? (grin)

Then there's Poke Salad Annie: http://www.kulichki.com/dassin/lyrics/polk_salad_annie.html

Or an ode to Butterbeans: http://davesgarden.com/t/339529/
plus some additional variations/verses I found:

Just a bowl of butterbeans
Pass the cornbread if you please
I don't want no collard greens
All I wants is a bowl of butterbeans

Just a piece of country ham
Pass the biscuits and the jam
I don't want no turnip greens
Just give me more of them good old butterbeans

Redeye gravy is all right
Turnip sandwich a delight
I don't want no black-eyed peas
Just give me more o'them good old butterbeans

Some folks thinks that corn pone's best
Some likes grits more than the rest
But if I was a man of means
I'd just want them butterbeans

When they lay me down to rest
Plant no roses on my chest
Or no bloomin' evergreens
Cause all I want is a bowl of butterbeans

Hi Terry,
That song you shared reminded me of a cd I own called, "Barbecue Blues" produced by House of Blues....It's a great compilation cd...think my fave song is Hungry Woman's Blues...

And there's Red Beans from the cd....
I got my red beans cookin', I got my red beans cookin'...
I'm goin' down to Louisiana goin' to find me a ham bone, boy....
I'm goin' to have all these women jumpin' around for joy
here's a link to an audio clip
