I thought this was just another gimmick that wasn't worth its salt but my BIL convinced me to try these. And if the ground is a bit softer already, they truly have been a great tool for me especially weeding in the dahlias. Anybody else try this tool?? What do you think?

Hula hoe
I use to have one and it dissappered.I loved mine!
Ya know I have seen these in the store before and often though "how do you use that thang"? I knew it was a weeding hoe of some sort but just couldn't figure out how it would work. Guess I might need to try getting me one, I have a whole bed that is full of grass and not so full of plants! So I'm sure it'd be the exact tool that I need to get rid of all that grass instead of hand pulling it out!
I have used one for years and really love it. It does a good job of cultivating the soil, as well as cutting down weeds just below soil level. It works on the push, as well as the pull.
But I think you do want your soil to be somewhat soft, not hard as a rock or anything.
We have heavy clay soil here and the Hula Hoe even cuts through the hardpan. It is a good idea to resharpen it on occasion.
A new contender that works in tighter areas is the circlehoe. http://www.circlehoe.com/ I have not used one of these yet.
I still like my winged weeders better than either of the scuffle hoes we have and we also have the hula hoe but my winged weeder jr. is easier for me to use. http://www.wingedweeder.com
2 more cool tools I need to get!
Hmmmmmmmn......I'll have to consider that one....I use my regular hoe, or my ten digit system. They work pretty good too!
"eyes"
ten digit system meaning? 10 fingers?? LOL I've been using those for years, and mine are just about worn out! LOL
I love our hula hoe! It really pulls weeds out by the roots and saves my poor back too. Works in tight spaces too!
