GrannyLois, what a wonderful gift to have had those five years of love and joy with your dear husband. My prayers are with you, and will be with you, in the days ahead. God bless you in every way, and may He provide you with lasting peace and comfort, supportive and helpful friendships, and sure and certain guidance as you walk through this valley.

GL, have had you in my thoughts and prayers constantly, I hope all is well with you. Take care of yourself during these very sad days. ((((GL)))))
Lois, you have been in my thoughts since the day I read this post. I am sure you are having a difficult and trying time. I imagine you are busy now with plans and such. I hope you find a way to keep your chin up and get through this. It must be awful. I am glad you at least had a nice five years. The memories will last your lifetime. (((Lois)))
Lois, I just returned from a trip this weekend, and found this. Words can never express or soothe our pain and sorrow, but the Lord will lead you through and will lift you up and beyond. I'm so happy that I had the pleasure of meeting, and talking with Mike. He was a magnificent person!!
"eyes"
My heart goes out to you. (((((((GL)))))))
Hugs,
Cathy
May our great Lord in heaven grant you peace and comfort during this very sad time in your life!
How wonderful to have had a fun and happy five years with this guy. Some people never get to have that in their lifetime. May God bless you and keep you during your time of sorrow and beyond.
I wish you could have been there last night and experienced the most wonderful funeral/celebration of a person's life that I have ever seen. It might sound like I'm exaggerating, but I'm not: It was AWESOME ~! The presence of God was strong, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your prayer cover. I was given grace and supernatural strength, and I attribute that to all the many prayers on my behalf.
As we sang in one of the songs: 'God is good all the time.'
I'll be out of town for several days, and will check in next week. Love to all ~~ Lois.
Lois God is good all the time and all the time God is good, I'm so proud you have him to confort you at this time.
Hugs
Ruth

GrannyLois, Do not be saddened for God is holding you in His hands and will be with you to help you to understand His wishes. Even though I am sad hearing about this,it is for the emptiness you are feeling at your DH passing and the thoughts you are having about the future without him.He has a better place now but his spirit will be with you always.{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}
I'm posting this poem especially for you, Lois, and for all of us who will at some time face the death of someone we love.
Death is Nothing At All
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you,
Whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always use.
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow,
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Pray smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
That it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort,
Without the trace of a shadow in it.
Life means all that it ever meant,
It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you
Somewhere very near,
Just around the corner,
All is well.

Wow, what an eloquent statement by Henry Holland. Wow.
We'll all be here when you get back, Lois. Thinking of you and praying for you. :)
I just saw and read this post. I am so sorry for your loss, but all the words and expression of hope and comfort from all the above I hope is of some comfort to you. I had no idea until looking at the post for the first time today that your family was facing a crisis. I pray that you and your family will move ahead with all your fond memories and believe that the two of you have parted physically but not spiritually and someday will join together for eternity just as you vowed to do in this life.
((((((Lois))))) . I know from experience how wonderful our friends on DG are in time of need...I will hold you in my heart and Prayers. Love & Hugs]

God bless you, Granny, as He and you weave the tapestry of your new life. I'm so glad for you that you felt His strength and grace in your time of need. I'm sure you have felt it before when you needed it, and will always feel it. I look forward to your return on the Garden and hope to see you at the roundup in September. We in this household love you and continue praying for you.
Grannylois - I am truly sorry for your loss. It was such a pleasure to meet you both at the TN R up last year.
GL,I'm so sorry for your loss. I just found this thread today.
Oh, yes, I wish we could have all been there in person, because I recognize the aura you describe. Grace and goodness occupied the room, I'm certain, and you were gently enfolded by angels' protective wings. With love and acceptance, you acknowledged the passing of this special man into another realm. With gratitude for his presence in your life, you turned loose so he could go to the next level, "just around the corner". You have been touched by a wonderful spirit.
It truly seems that Mike is still so much with you. Out of the path of human misery, freed from the bondage of mortal fraility, he still loves and comforts you. I believe you are a chosen person, Lois, for whom life holds many wonderful experiences. Your angels are with you as you move into this phase of your earthly life.
It's a privilege to have a connection to one such as you.
