Check out this cut stem! A thunderstorm was forecast, so I cut it, rather than see it get knocked down in the wind and rain. This plant is 6 years old and still going strong. It must think it lives in England! LOL (Those are peonies in the vase with it, just to show the size of this beauty)
Delphinium
Lupy, it's beautiful, if it were here, I wouldn't get anything done, I'd just sit and look at it all day!!
Gorgeous! And since Trish is 10 inches tall that stalk must be about 40 inches!
Oh Kathy, that's gorgeous. I've never seen one so tall, mine only get about 24-30" tall.
Donna
It's breathtaking! Mine never bloom or grow. I give up.
That Delphinium is beautiful. The winds this year have not been kind to the delphies or the foxgloves! But the hummers don't seem to mind if the plants are a shorter this year than last!!
That's a beauty! We have so much wind I avoid growing tall things except the hollyhocks that volunteer and get tied to the fence. Maybe I should try it...... I love that blue!
When the stalk was on the plant, it was taller than my up-raised hand could reach :)
There are still a lot of flower spikes on that plant, but they did get bent :( Oh well, just gives it a "modern art" type look!
Don't give up trying to grow them! I plant new ones every year, so that the ones that don't survive in the winter are replaced by new ones. I just adore delphiniums! And foxgloves. And peonies. And ... LOL
I know they can grow that big here, I was drooling over a bunch of them in a local iris farm's display garden. I started some from seed this year, and next year I'm going to start even more, you have inspired me!!
