Well folks, we live "maybe" a couple miles apart and just met today. Vickie brought me a nice big beautiful pot of pentas & I unloaded a few of my plants onto her LOL...Vickie is gorgeous, beautiful, fun, nice, and I can't believe it took us so long to get together. Come back soon Vickie!
Vic & VickieP
Wow!! Lucky you two or what!!! Always been my wish to have an enthusiastic gardener living close by!! Lovely photo vic and hi Vickie!!
Looks like you two are great gardening pals already.
What a great thing Dave's Garden is!!!! Bringing people friendship and the joy of gardening. You two look like the perfect pals. Thanks to the DG staff again for all this wonderful comraderie.
Good for you, Vic! I had intended to look up Vicky at her thrift shop when I visited you, but seems I never had enough time. Glad you two finally got together...
Well Darius, I have been thinking about you. Haven't heard from you in ages. Maybe we can all plan a mini-roundup. Would love to see you!
Ooooooh, thrift shop?? I like Vicky already! Nice you two got together, Vic. :)
Looks like you two had a great time judging from those big smiles....
Vic...that's great!! I have chatted with Vickie and am glad you two finally met (talk her into coming to round up....and Darius...please come too) Jo
Well, from one Vic(VickieP) to another (Vic), I am SO-O happy to have met Vic. This morning I planted every single plant she shared with me. And mulched a little. And threw out some pea gravel on the path. I do believe I have a new friend!! Vic (and her husband) are great. I will be teaching school come Round Up time this Sept. But I agree with Vic - let's go for a mini-RU. Darius, I still volunteer at the thrift store. And the first full week of every month is half-price week. I bought a huge bag of things for $3.75. Send me an e-mail and me, you and Vic will do some thrifting and have lunch.
Well, I'll be! There is my favorite Vic and soon to be second! LOL It is always lovely to see your smiling face! And Vickie, it is so nice to meet you. Are Hank and Vic not the best?? I should have warned you though about keeping your distance from the pond. LOL You didn't lose any shoes did ya?? (I better duck and run now.) Nice to see you and great to meet you!!
Hey, Badseed, your name surfaced at least two dozen times while I was visiting Vic & Hank. Can't wait to meet you. Pose for a Parking Lot picture in front of some plants (or weeds)! I am the jewelry and picture lady at the thrift shop and today I worked on jewelry instead of in the yard.
Duplicate posting. :)

Actually, there are some pics of me on here, some worse than others!!! LOL I posted one after I lost a bit of weight and there is also one of me on my page, if you click my name over there on the left. :)
Oh, I hope my name came up in pleasant conversation! LOL
Now Ms. Michele...you KNOW it was all good! Heck, everytime Vickie looked at a plant, oh, that's from badseed, oh that's from badseed...LOL
ROTFLOL I guess I didn't send you enough plants then. Hopefully you will find some new goodies when you come see me. :)
That does it - I'm moving to N.C.!!!!! Hi Vickie P.
we'd be glad to have you, Louisa... and now I have forgotten your real name even though we've exchanged emails. Senior moment, LOL!
Hi, Louisa. Come on to NC and we will all go plant-foraging. Yesterday I checked out for the first time the Asheville Farmers Mkt but found most of the plants from the one nursery open on a Thursday greatly overpriced. I also went to a place called Plants Direct somewhere near Hendersonville (I was lost)...Van Winkergen or something...huge complex...but didn't find anything there either. Vic's yard has more treasures!
Is "Vic's Yard" in the Watchdog??? How was it rated? Excellent, I'll bet. LOL Jo
Vicky... I agree with your impression of Jesse Israel's nursery at the Farmer's Market, although I do occasionally buy from them anyway. Van Wingerden grows mostly to sell to chains like Home Depot and Lowe's. Next time you are this way, check out BBBarns, next door to the HD on I-240 at exit 8. They are a bit pricey but have very healthy plants. I've been quite satisfied. (Also, I get a landscaper's 20% discount, so if we went together, you'd pay less, LOL.)
Vic's garden has great treasures, and I may have a treasure or two myself for you.
Hey guys - just a thought!! But I am going to stay with vic before the Kentucky roundup and maybe afterwards too. Maybe we could all go on a treasure hunt. What do you say vic???? The name is Margaret!! lolol!!
Oh, pooh. As soon as you posted "margaret" I hit myself for not remembering, LOL. IF I'm still here when you visit Vic, I'd LOVE to get together. (Getting my house ready to sell and moving 100 miles SW, still in NC, though.)
South West - then right on top of South Carolina!! Good luck with the move and I mean that...it's such hard work having done it a thousand times it seems.
No, 100 miles SW from me is just above the GA line and miles and miles and miles from SC... Hayesville/Lake Chatuge/Murphy/Andrews area. I'm actually abouit an hour from SC here in Asheville, and my new area will be about 3 hrs. from SC and 2-3 hrs. from Atlanta so at least I can go shopping in some upscale food stores.
I plan to live through all the work that's being done to get the house ready to sell, nasty and stressful as it is. and despite the toll it is taking. After it sells, moving should be a piece of cake. (Like you, seems like I've done it a thousand times too.)
Actually, I was planning a mini roundup when Margaret came. It thought it would be nice to have VickieP & Darius over and we could chat or shop or whatever. Sounds like a plan to me! I'm looking forward to it!
Darius just goes to show how up the creek I am regarding geography!! lol!! vic I hope I didn't jump the gun here and maybe spoil a surprise you might have had up your sleeve. Roll on September!! :-)
Oh no.....I just thought it would be fun for us all to get together when you come but I'm not going to plan until I see how long you're going to be here. If a short time, then I will just invite them for dinner and we can chat but if time allows, I would like for VickieP, you, and I to go see Darius's garden and go to Jesse Israel's...even though they cost the moon, it's fun to go. And then there's another cool native nursery up the road from us too! We'll just have to see how much time we have. Can you stay for a month or two??????? LOL
I'm on for any outing. I'll even take a day off school for that. Has anyone ever been to Leicester to Sandy Mush Herb Farm? I've always wanted to go. Back in another life when I had sun plus sun, I loved my herbs as much as my poison garden.
A month or two vic???? Don't tempt me!!! If my furball is OK I should be able to stay a few days. Now that Vickie has her sights set on another nursery......!! :-) But....I'm more looking forward to meeting you all at last - that's the big attraction for me!!
Vickie, I've been to Sandy Mush several times over the last 20 years, but it's a very long, difficult and dangerous driveway without 4WD. They do most of their business by mail, but if you can get there, they are great people to meet. They live there in a rustic cabin and tend their grounds when time away from the greenhouses and business permits. They have one greenhouse for their personal tropical plants that includes some specimens over 10' tall.
Well, Darius, after that description of Sandy Mush Herb Farm driveway, of course I want to go. Who has 4WD? I have a Subaru wagon with all-wheel drive. But I am not what I call a skilled driver.
Vickie, your all-wheel drive would probably make it... just don't look away from the "road" as it's a steep drop-off and of course, just a narrow one lane track, LOL.
yikes!!! Where's my parachute!!!!
Yeah ... it's a scary drive but definitely worth it to look at their place (once, LOL!). I have a wonderful recipe I got about 1980-81 from the wife (I am lousy with names). It's a cold (or hot) brown rice salad with lots of fresh herbs, fresh steamed green beans, garbanzos, black olives, garlic and oilve oil dressing. Yummy, if you like garlic.
IF I like garlic!!!! For the first time in my life I ran out of it yesterday and wanted to cook bolognese!! Had to use the powdered garlic!! vic....my lovely, have a safe and wonderful trip to Ohio this morning and kiss that little cherub for me!!
LOL, Loiusa... I'll email you the recipe a bit later.
Which recipe??? I've been coooking Italian all my life!! lol!!! Oh, I see.... 'your' recipe!! Thanks!! :-)
Margaret, have you tried growing your own garlic? It's really easier than anything else I grow (except maybe weeds, LOL)?
