Flower pouches

I just got 25 strawberry plants and two flower pouches from Park's. The roots on the plants are about 7 inches long. How do I get these long roots into the holes. Does anyone have any suggestions? thanks

I ordered the same thing and what I did was I put some dirt in, then put 1 strawberry into each hole in the bottom, feed through bag and pull out in the front, then put more dirt and then the next 2 and so on. Here's mine, it's already got strawberries now............

Thank you so much Flo. That makes perfect sense. I wasn't expecting the plants to be so large. YOur strawberries look great.

Interesting, and I like that concept. But what are you going to do with them in the winter?

The reason I ask is that I have a huge strawberry patch, but it's been so neglected the last year it's full of grass and clover. I need to move the strawberry plants out of there to somewhere else, but haven't come up with a good plan yet.

I like this idea, but is there a way to keep them over the winter?

I'm SO glad I chanced upon this thread! Just this morning, I planted my 25 strawberry plants in those Park's hanging Gro-Bags and I didn't know if I did it right.

I entirely filled the bag with soil first, then I poked the roots through the slits cut in the bags and sort-of positioned them in the soil with my finger.

I think that Flowox's method is probably better, but if the little plants look 'peaked' tomorrow, I'll reposition them. (Flowox -- I'm so jealous -- your strawberries look GREAT!)

And JoanJ, the bags have a loop at the top so one can hang them anywhere and they could be moved to a more protected location over-winter.

Fortunately, that is not a concern here in Louisiana. We don't have any 'winter' to speak of. This past year, I think Winter occurred one Wednesday in January. LOL.

I'll just bring them inside for the winter, hang them under the growing lights if I have to and put a little container below them to let water drip into it when I have to water them :)
