In another thread Dinu mentioned, "A feeling of permanance in the garden". Funny that I never felt that permanance at the old place even though it was large and divided into "rooms". But this little garden already is starting to feel anchored because of the little pond and the rocks about it, the reawakening of plants that were asleep in cramped pots and the sharing of it with family, friends and neighbors.
Although no garden is ever finished and plants get moved about or are replaced it is that feeling of permanance that I needed after all the moving about. I think that is why I just had to add a couple of small trees and keep watering the moss in one shady corner. It gives the garden a feeling of age and permanance.
Being in a small space in a rental apartment it became even more important to have that feeling to make me feel safe and settled after being uprooted so abruptly and I had not realized how important that is to making the difference between having a roof over my head and having a HOME!
When I look out and see things growing I am seeing gifts from friends and a promise that for all the tommorrows to come I have made a commitment to tend my home, To beautify it, to enjoy it and to share it with loved ones. A garden, whether large or small, demonstrates that commitment regardless of size. We give of our labor and our funds to our gardens and in return we receive comfort, relaxation and that wonderful feeling of permanance and belonging that wraps itself through the essence of our souls.
A feeling of permanance

Can I just say I was having a terrible day but that made me smile!
Thanks Zanymuse!
What a wonderful picture you paint. I'm about ready to brew a cup of tea and sit outside to see if I can feel it. Oops, all I'll feel is mosquitoes after the rain last night and the empty repellant can.
Zany, I'm happy you are enjoying your sanctuary.
It's the poet in her - can't you feel it!! Bijou can be enchanting!!
What a BEAUTIFUL message Zany. Thank you so much!
Wonderfully put, zanymuse.
Zany, thank you for that. I sit after a long day of digging digging digging, and just love it all. Even though I'm only in my second season of 'rebirth' I see the rewards countless times. It's my refuge. My space and air. I can't imagine a day without the garden.
:~} I usually put these types of Museings in my written journal but posting this one here seemed appropriate somehow. Glad you all didn't mind my ramblings.
keep rambling!!!! I knew when you first posted that pic of your new littler garden that it was going to be a very special place for you... and here you are confirming that feeling, that is a special thing.
I'm so glad for you.
Wow Starzz! Did you paint that? I love the idea behind it.
I am left speechless in admiration for your verbal gifts :)
Zanymuse, Thanks for putting your words out there for all of us. It is very hot today so I am treating myself to watch more than I usually do on DG. Donna
LOL I have 47 journal volumns with my "museings" that I threw away several years ago only to find them in a box during our move to Carlotta. My daughter had pulled them out of the trash and boxed them up. She told Bob to make sure they didn't get lost because after I am gone she wants to read them. I asked her why she didn't just take them home and she said she couldn't invade my privacy like that while I was alive! LOL She's probably right! I just hope she is never bored enough to actually read them all :~)
Hi Zany,
No I did not paint that..it was sent to me by a friend in an e-mail..she must have found it on the net somewhere.
I love the sentiment though..
How wonderful that your daughter thought to keep your "museings"..it will be a treasure for her to read.
Cheers,
Carol
