OK...here is the picture. Once upon a time there was a healthy vine in a pot with a tall...6' - 8'...slim trellis. The vine is growing up past this support. Since this is not a fence, all the vine can do is hang down reaching desperately for something to cling to. What to do? The vine is not blooming yet. What to do? Keep making the trellis taller and taller like Jack and the Beanstalk? Not an easy task. Cut it off at the top of the trellis? Wrap it down in hopes it starts growing down? Now it's your turn to give an answer...I am so tickled that it is growing so vigorously but can't keep making the trellis taller and since it's not up against a fence or some such it has no where to go like sideways, after it reaches the top of the trellis. Your help, suggestions, stories greatly appreciated!
A question for anyone who has grown a vine!
I'd just let it droop down and work it's way around the trellis. I have a clematis that does this and it fills in quite nicely. But then, I've let the dandelions run riot in my gardens this year, so you might want to find someone else for GOOD advice! LOL
What type of vine are you talking about? Some plants won't mind being trimmed.
Some passifloras, thunbergia and a black eyed susan vine.
