Attn: Ohioans and Neighbors 4

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Starting a new one. This one will be mid-May. Not sure the exact date yet, but Esther_z6 and DH will be coming to Columbus on May 16 or 17.

Celia already said she can come!

Flowox? Ready for another visit? This time I will try to make sure to keep enough liquids in ready reach!

Gardenwife, Lotusblossom, how about the two (or 4) of you? Please? What can I bribe you with?

I think we just might be in luck to see the beginning of the Heritage Rose Garden at Whetstone Park of Roses at the beginning of their burst of glory! I am determined to see it, but there is no set date about when it is at full peak. It depends on the weather. I will give everyone scouting info.

Morph? Do you think you might make it?

and of course, earth to Badseed! LOL Any hope you might make it up here? It will be either on a Friday or Saturday though, so probably you will be working :(

Anyone else in the Ohio area that would like to figure out why we keep gathering? We are all just a bunch of Gardening nuts ;D A great time is had by all.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I will be more than happy to come visit. About walking around somewhere in a park in the sun..........I'm not sure about that since I get dehydrated so quickly and I just can't take allot of sun and heat without getting a migraine :o(
If I sit outside in the garden with a hat, sunglasses and a nice ice water, then I'm not too bad :o)

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I am looking forward to it.

How about we meet four hours earlier than we need to and go pick Badseed up and whisk her away to Grove City?! She wouldn't have a car here so we could make her stay for a nice looooooooong visit. (teeheegigglegiggle)

South Point, OH(Zone 6a)

We will be arriving in Columbus May 16. Usually we go up once a month so we are able to check on MIL and FIL. This time we set this particular date because a family friend requested we bring plants for their plant sale (and pancake breakfast) starting at 7 am in Powell, Ohio. (We brought a lot of heirloom tomatoes last year - it benefits the Powell Historical Society). So, aside from very early Saturday, we can join you later Saturday. Or we can come earlier Friday. Or you can come to Powell, Ohio for the plant sale and breakfast.

I think we should consider going to Newark one of these days. GW and Howie have a wonderful garden - I was up in the wee hours looking at it
(http://gardenwife.com/gallery/). I am not going to look at the other stuff like LB's garden, etc., my computer connection is too slow - maybe I'll go do it at DH's place of work, they have a good connection there.

Then another time you all could come down here to South Point - I'll have to stop weeding and clean house then!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I will have to host another getogether at my house sometime this summer. The last one was fun. You won't see much garden though in my little condo, although I do have lots of things growing in this small place........LOL

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Hmmm, Heirloom Plant Sale in Powell on Saturday? Sounds like a great idea to me! What time does it run? Not sure the out-of-towners would make it for an early pancake breakfast, but I would love to see what heirlooms they have. But meet at my place first, then caravan up. Deal? Otherwise we might not see each other like the first DeMonye's gathering.

I go to Newark in early July to pick apples and blueberries at an orchard near (LOL my mind just went blank! Where the college is, you know?) Sound workable? It is hard for me to get around as y'all know, but that is a yearly event for me :)

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I'm going to TN sometime, but not sure when. I don't know if my son is going to go to basketball camp so I don't know if I'm going in June, July, or August........LOL

South Point, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Lupi, it is a plant sale - anything the members (and their friends) drag in. I was just saying that last year we contributed mostly heirloom tomatoes to the sale. It starts at 7 am and Marge says there are two women they don't know who appears every year at 7 and get the cream of the crop! We can pick you up if you are game to go that early. (We made it to Easter Sunrise service at 6 am, so we should be able to do this)

I was told that there is a Plant Sale and Silent Auction at Dawes Arboretum on Saturday, May 17 9am-1pm. They will be offering rare and unique trees and shrubs. For a sample of plants for sale, visit www.dawesarb.org. (Quoting from newsletter someone gave me today). Have you been to this one?

Lupi, remember when you go to your various sales that I want ramps, native azaleas, and a purple tree peony (if under $20). Wouldn't mind a kaffir lime or Meyer lemon either. I sent you a message, but can't be sure if you get them or if you have replied to them.

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, shoot! I didn't get your e-mail about the citrus! E-mailing you now...

I will check on the sale at Dawes! No, I have never been to one of their Plant Sales before. But since it is the same day that we are gathering, no way to be in both places at the same time. *drat I saw a tree that I would just love to have! I have had several people e-mail me when I posted it in the PDB asking for sources. Gotta dig out my notes tomorrow to look into it.

Gardenwife, Flowox, have you been to Dawes' sales before?

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

No, never knew Dawes had a plant sale :)

Oh my!! What happened, is she going to be alright?

Keep us updated on how she's doing

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Wind, I replied about LL's mom on the Prayer forum. Thanks for letting us know that the get-together is postponed.

(Zone 5a)

Lupy ask me to tell you that her mother's condition is improving and that she appreciates all of your prayers.
She won't be able to get on the puter any time soon, she has to keep the phone lines open.

(Zone 5a)

I am having problems getting on DG but I will try and post an update as soon as I hear and can get through.
Lupy said to thank you for all your prayers. I have told her of all the good wishes and prayers that you all are sending and it helps her to know that so many care.

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

I am so sorry that our gathering was cancelled! Mom is improving (I cannot say how much I appreciate Wind's keeping everyone notified).

I am going to have to keep things a day at a time until she is recovered, but I would love to plan another gathering for the near future.

Now that Dave got DG fixed, it will be a lot easier for me to sign on and actually access the forums!!!!! I just couldn't wait the 10-15 minutes needed before.

(Zone 5a)

We all understand and don't worry about it until mom is better at which time I will come over and drink up all your tea and lie about cha ya.
