Where is the best place to buy(order)hibiscus?
'Hibiscus'
And, if I might add, CC, Where did I see that there are scented hibiscus?
I ordered two (a rose and a blue, also called Rose of Sharon) from Bluestone Perennials. They arrived 10 days ago in great shape, and they have already taken off growing. They also have a buy three get one free special on all their plants. I have ordered from them numerous times when I couldn't find something locally. I highly recommend Bluestone. They have a large selection of perennials and the hard part is deciding what to order. Nat
Now to get a Bluestone catalog.
Thanks.
Scented hibiscus-wow!
Hey Nat, I love Bluestone too, been usin em for years. Do you have this? http://plantsdatabase.com/go/1872/ It's really hardy here, wish I had thought to gather seed!
The Rose of Sharon is another plant tho, isn't it?
CC--Why get a catalog? You might be disappointed. Better photos on their website! You might search the Database to find out exactly what you want, Tropical, Hardy, etc.
I sure hope someone finds that scented one, it's probably a Tropical.
NO! Get the catalog too! It is WONDERFUL! The website is great, but I had trouble making it save my changes to my cart so I was apprehensive placing an order online. I called my order in and it was nice to get great customer service with the order taker. Please, please, please get the catalog. :)
Mornin Angie, rained in also, I see! Took a "vacation" day to dig a new bed, lol.
I had no problem online. What I like is to store the pics and then go back to make up my mind. Ya gotta admit that the catalog does't have many pics.
Violabird - - no, I don't have your hibiscus, and yes it's different to the Rose of Sharon. The Rose of Sharon Hibiscus are similar in size and shape to a crape myrtle with multiple trunks. If you can, gather me some seed later this year off of your plant.
I love Rose of Sharon - - but so do the Japanese Beetles ( my number one emeny). So I mix a little dishwashing liquid with water - - put it in a hand sprayer and spray my Rose of Sharon. It apparently makes the leaves taste bad - - but it's harmless to the good bugs.
I had three Rose of Sharon previously - - but moved and I am now starting over.
CC - - I find the Bluestone website user friendly - - but by all means get a copy of the catalog - - I use it all the time to reference different perennials. I also love their site plant finder - put in your zone, sun/shade, soil, color desired, when you want blooms, etc. and it will recommend plants for you.
Now that I have such wonderful Garden Friends, I will have someone to collect seeds for!
How I love this site :D
try Plantranch, he is DG member, each year i buy plants from him. he send about 2-3' bare rooted plant, not cuttings or seeds. check his feedback on the Garden Watchdog. plant i have bought from him, performed well. here's one of the plants i got from him ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3185&item=2318467816

Thank you for all this excellent information.
I don't order online-so,I would have to order by phone or mail.I have just started looking at hibiscuses & just love them.I was looking at a picture of one called 'Red Hot'-this I just got to find.If anyone has this one-please let me know & I will come up with something to trade.
