I can't Believe My Luck

I bought a xPaph Voodoo Magic "Dark Lady" orchid with one bud ready to bloom but I broke it and since it only blooms once a year, my heart was broken. I called the nursery that I pruchased it from and they replaced it, thank goodness.
This is the first black lady slipper I have seen so you know I was excited.

They ususally sell all the orchids that have finished blooming for $10 and since the one I broke won't bloom until next year I ask if I could purchase it for $10. They agreed so I went to the check out to pay for it and another orchid and to my surprise they only charged me $1.00 for the broken one I returned. All this happened yesterday and let me tell you I am still floating on cloud 9, I just couldn't believe my luck.

Thank you and it couldn't have come at a better time, I was beginning to think that this run of bad luck I've been having would never end.

This is the one I broke and ended up paying $1.00 for, notice I stuck the bud back in the dirt hoping that it will still bloom and so far it hasn't died.

Here is the new one with the bud and I can't wait for it to open. The one at the nursery was just too beautiful for words.

That is one neat looking plant! Good to see your luck changing for the better too. Most orchid blooms seem to last for ages so if this one id like it'e relatives you should be enjoying it for quite awhile. But if you get tired of it you should still have my address!

I was with this woman when we first saw it, and let me tell you, she bought the one with the bud unopened because she sniffed all the smell out of the one that had already opened! Don't let her fool you, she did!!! LOL. I am so glad you got your orchid :)

Folks let me tell you what really happened. Lupy took a whiff of this beautiful orchid and I ask if it smelled good she said yes and I went to sniff for myself and I'll be dog-gone if I could smell anything. Lupy had sniffed all the fragance out of the plant and let me say this isn't the first time this has happened *giggle* It even happened at the park of roses by the time we left there was no fragance in the air....Lupy had made her rounds lol.

Put the flower bud in a vase and it might just open but I'm not sure if these ever make good cut flowers.

Lupine and the Windy One were sniffin at a tree
They sniffed up all the scent leavin none for me!

She is lying on me!!!! This orchid she got to first!!! She got all the smell and left none for me :(

I admit I did get to the roses nose first :) But SHE got this orchid. Ppphhhhbbbtttt... I know... I will sneak over to her house and OB can let me in and I will get all the fragrance from it before she knows I am there... Just gotta keep my eye out for when the bloom opens.

Ok I didn't want to do this Lupy but this will prove my point. We were at The Franklin Park Conservatory when she inhaled the fragance form this one, proof positive.

Woe is me! I have not enjoyed many fragrances for awhile now. I thought it was because of allergies cutting off my ollafactory senses, but alas, Now I discover to my dismay, that the two of you sucked the odors away~

Ya took the smells from the flowers and trees
now come get the ones that the Dog blames on ME!
