I would adore the Houttuynia cordata. will email you
While y'all party...
I think ya talked me out of the violets. Thanks for the warning!
But since I am basically starting all over from scratch and have both sun and shade almost everything else will work.
Now who do I wrestle for the painters pallete? LOL just kidding. actually being a part of the polygonum family it too might prove a bit invasive here so I will edit it off my list.
Now the rest of ya can battle it out caus she said I can get whatever I want SO THERE! tounge sticking out and a grinnin ear to ear!

tiG, you have mail!!!!! I hope so, anyway!!!! If you mail me and don't hear back via e-mail, please write it on this thread :)
Ecoangie, Dee I got your addresses.
Zany, you are off my violet list ;D But not off my sweetheart list. And favored poet list. The Painter's Palette is not invasive, at least not for me. It does self-sow a little, but I deliberately sowed a bunch of the seeds last fall, that is why I have a lot of seedlings. Otherwise a few volunteers every year, but not an excessive number. In CA, though, it could be invasive, a lot of things are. I'll see if I can find another special treat for you :D
Thanks for showing your photo, Lupi. I know your plants will feel right at home now! (Not as pretty as yours, yet)
Is that violets in your first pic? Mine never get that Big!
Maybe ya could stick in a fragrant one or two rather than throw em out, I do have plenty of room! Still got my addy?
Vi
OOOOh, may I add the blue plumbago and Houttuynia to my list, also, if you still have some available?..Don't mean to be greedy, but I love groundcovers(and need them , too. LOL)
Dee
Ok all dogs are sleeping. Am I too late for Plumbago? Sounds wonderful!! Thank you Thank You!!
They slumber & I say thanks again, Lupine, for my Lily of the Valley :) They seem to be adjusting quite well! I won't add to your load right now ~ you're swamped, eh? We all owe you something besides our everlasting gratitude!
I'd be interested in plumbago, toadlily and any astilbe or cordata please
LL,
That Houttuynia cordata looks like an interesting plant. I'd like to have some if you have enough. Thanks. Rose
Kathy, let me know if you didnt' get a response to your email. I sent one yesterday afternoon. thank you
My question is--is there anything left? If so, here's what I'm interested in:
astilbe
hostas
huechera
liliy of the valley
forgetmenots
campanula
plumbago
violets
What do you want?
If you have any of theses left please let me know!
sweet woodruff
wild ginger
bloodroot
lamium 'Chequers'
Bergenia cordifolia
spiderwort
sensitive fern
'Erica'
'Superba':
cheninsis 'Pumila'
crocus
Epimedium 'rubra' (bishop's hat, barrenwort)
Toadlily x miyazaki
Heuchera Dale's Strain
Tiarella Running Tapestry
Tiarella 'Cygnet'
Heucherella 'Bridget Bloom'
Autumn Fern
Game's over, except for Kathleen and Sue ;D I will still give them another day or two for my absolute dear friends :)
For the most part I am able to fulfill the requests, except for everyone who wants the tiarellas and heucherellas. I only had one spare of each. Dilemma, dilemma! I agree, they are spectacularly beautiful plants, but pretty slow to increase. They demand very deep, very fertile soil that is very rich in humus. Without that, they will very quickly die. But after they are established, they need almost nothing else until it is time to divide them -- if that time ever comes ;D
I still need address for a couple people who requested plants; for right now I will pack up everyone that I have addresses for to get those out today, the others will have to be delayed until tomorrow (or when I get your addresses LOL)
Lupi, did you get my e/mail?
Let me know if ya did K?
I just sent my addy!!
Hi Lupi!
If you have any of these, I would love to try:
bloodroot
lamium 'chequers'
mother of thyme
gooseneck loosestrife
spiderwort
toadlily miyazaki
ribbon grass
campanula
crocus or daffies
the invasive violets! (big or small leaf) *grin*
Remember the old commercial 'she tried but she couldn't do it'? Well, I worked very hard outside from 10 am when the rain stopped until almost 4:30, couldn't finish except one person's order. I will do better tomorrow! No rain forecast so I can start a lot earlier and get them out before noon.
*panting for breath ...
Still haven't checked all my e-mails to see whether I got everyone's addresses; as of 9 pm last night I still lacked Belladonna, tmbolin, naturepatch, woodspirit, weedlady. If you have sent it to me, then I just haven't gotten to all my e-mails yet. I think I still have 40 unread ones! Trying... Being closed out on Easter was hard. Of course the ISP was closed for the holidays. At least their customer service was.
Lupi, Don't overdo yourself! Lordy, we can wait! Wasn't everybody a perfect angel while standing in line? Ahem, at least some of us were!
Vi
I know I was evil grin! LOL
I agree Lupi, don't overdo it, we waited this long we can wait another day or two.
Absolutely!!
Perennials are patient, just like us! Take your time Lupi!
That's right Lupin...THEY can wait...you are workin on mine though...right? LOL Kick off your shoes and take a nice long break. I can wait too...but just barely ;~}
ROFLOL Zany you are sooo bad!
Is tha Bad as in good or bad as in rotten? No, don't tell me, it might hurt my delicate feelings,,,,HA!
Bad as in CRAZY THANG bad! LOL
OH! Ya mean I am livin up to the first half of my name? Zany but NOT a~muse~ing? Hmmmmm....yep, I can live with that ;~)
You NUT!
Yeah! That's the word I was lookin for!
Zany, you ARE bad ;D Bad as in a good nut ;D Keep 'em coming!
My wee little tree fern looked dead too but it has just now started growing new fronds after 2 years in it's pot looking like I should toss it. So hang in there. Maybe it will come back!
Which one is the green with white leaf?
Variegated one is the bird's foot fern. Pteris something or other.
Now on to the good news! I e-mailed the lucky ones already; I got 13 (count 'em) packages sent today! They are for:
Yardbird
tiG
Pardancanda
Mollybee
Vic
Belladonna
Rootdoctor
DeeS
Carena
Weedlady
Angie
tnbolin
and best poet, the winner is... Zanymuse! Yep, sent yours today too :)
If anyone above didn't get an e-mail from me about the postage, post here! I have not heard from Woodspirit, so I assume my e-mail filters are still out of whack.
Everyone else, almost finished, but alas, the evening shade drove me back inside to prepare the evening meal. I should be able to finish the rest tomorrow. And since y'all live fairly close, sending them Priority will still get them to you by Saturday. That is, if I can make it to the PO before 12:30.
Whew! I can't begin to count the numbers of individual plants I have done so far. Guessing 200?
For everyone who wants to know what I would like, the answer is: More Mailing Supplies! LOL I even ran out of the plastic bags you get from the Grocery Store! Had to go swipe some from a store's recycle bin! No fooling! Ran out of rubber bands long ago, ran out of wrapping paper, ran out of boxes, ran out of respectable manila envelopes, ran out of... you name it! And a shopping trip takes me a couple of hours to accomplish -- beginning with a bath! Since I soak all the plants and paper in compost tea, I am covered with it head to toe after a few minutes. Y'all can imagine how I do not want to go out in public like that.
For the most part I am able to supply everyone with what they requested. I put packing lists in the boxes, double-checked them all to make sure they were filled right, and whew am I beat! LOL
As a consolation for not being in the first batch, some of the ones who will get their plants tomorrow will find a little 'bonus' or two in their box :) Hope it helps!
About the bulbs: They are not dry!!!!! Do not store them as they are now. Either plant them when you get them, or take them out of the newspaper, put them outside but not in direct sun for a few days until they finish drying. Then store them in a paper bag (NOT plastic) with some dry peat to absorb moisture until you plant them. But they will do much better to establish if you plant them immediately! All except Weedlady. As I wrote you, I think you will need to pre-chill yours in order to get them to bloom. I know some people in the South will give you instrutions about how to do this if you haven't done it before.
Keep in mind: Almost all these plants are herbaceous: they are just emerging, and so will grow to full size through the next weeks. Think of the ultimate size of the plant when you position them. A few of the groundcover type things will grow to be at least 15" across by June or July.
If any of you want to know more about any of the plants that I have sent, yell!
Now off to have more fun...
LOL, you'ver really let this bunch run you ragged!! I'll wait for a bit and we'll talk, patience is a virtue! Besides, I've got all these seeds to plant!
Thanks, Kathleen and Sue :) Holding onto a couple special things for you both :)
Sue, what on earth -- do terriers eat carrots??? not heard of that before! LOL and I make carrot cake to give my neighbors with Scotties. Never thought of offering the sweeties just the raw (overgrown) carrots! Nah, they probably wouldn't eat 'em. Nasty when they get overgrown, only fit to make into carrot cake. Serves me right for not harvesting them on time!
Oh no! I forgot to tell about the sensitive ferns!
For those of you who requested them, I put in a small clump that had already sprouted, and a bunch of not-yet-sprouted roots. With these, just plant them a couple of inches below the soil, they should sprout in a week or two. And, remember, I did warn that some things are invasive unless kept under strict control! Sensitive fern puts out underground runners. The looser the soil the longer the runner. In my extra-heavy clay, the runners are mostly under 6" long. In good soil they can be a few feet long.
Great groundcover. Tolerates dry spells much better than any other ferns.
LOL! Yep, mine do! The puppy plays with it for a while, then knaws on it. The older one eats it immediatly....like someone is gonna take it from him! It's funny, I'll be on hands and knees...look up....and they are waiting patiently for something! But they don't like lettuce and radishes......
That is so funny. I thought Felony, the Rotweiler we used to have, was weird because everytime I gave the horse a carrot she had to have one too! That dog ate a carrot every day!
we call our teacup poodle the fruit bat. She loves fruit and vegis! A baby carrot is just the right size for her to take to her bed and crunch on. She won't chew bones, just carrots. When visiting a friend she was found out in the garden looking at the row of wintered over carrots with an eye on how to extract them from that dirt. LOL
With mine it was bananas. He can't have any treats now cause of his stomach, but gosh it's hard to eat them in front of him anymore.
Ok Lupi, if you e-mail me directions to your house I have a ton of supplies I can unload on your doorstep on friday (both kids in school) that is if I can find your house!!!
I will e-mail you directly, but I bet you will be awhile getting thru them all!! Poor soul!!
Laurrie
