Photos and logo vanished

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Everything was going along as usual when suddenly the logo and photos aren't downloading

Hope it's not my end???

Was hoping to load some photos on today, but that's not looking possible at the moment.....

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

It seems to be something my end as I can't get logos and buttons etc on other sites too :(
Oh well hope it's just my ISP

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

It's all returned as mysteriously as it went - so no action necessary :)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I'm still having it,mine loads at the start, after a few threads they go away,PDB wont load all the way for me,I have Defraged, disc clean up,and Restored.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Yes, I defragged, don't know if that's what did the trick.
Sorry to hear you're having trouble too - it's SO frustrating!!
Hope you're up and running smoothly again soon

Nothing to do with antivirus/firewall?
I wondered if that was scuppering me but don't know as it's now back.....

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Brugie was getting the same thing last night, mine seem to be ok if I back out and reopen, but if I go back in PDB a few pages,Logo goes away and it says four items loading.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

I was getting no pictures at all or logo on the main site and when I surfed I was getting the same everywhere else too. Very strange we should all be suffering with something similar

As you say, the page would load so far and then stop saying so many items still to load
Weird!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

it was everywhere for me last night too. fine now

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I can't get to anylinks,no pictures...etc......

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

How very odd.
Any ideas Dave - or anyone else???????

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I'm ok everywhere going back a few pages with pictures, except PDB.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

DW has same problem from work terminal, pics until paging back in PDB,

Manhattan Beach, CA(Zone 11)

It was ok for a while but the Graphics Monster is baaack!
Everything is fine until I go to the PDB; then, after a while, my computer gets ruined for all websites and I have to re-boot.
So this is one for DAVE!

Correction: I just found that shutting down and re-opening the Explorer will suffice.

It didn't for me Ulrich. I'm not sure what cured it - may have been the defrag

Manhattan Beach, CA(Zone 11)

Hi Phil, there is nothing wrong with our computers; it's DG only, I'm happy to say.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

So how was it affecting the computers so they wouldn't download from other sites either? ( A computer greeny here lol)
And what brings about the miraculous 'cure'?

Ulrich,

I can't possibly see how this is a problem with DG. I'm using nothing but w3c standards here.

I have never experienced the problems you describe above.

I rather think your buggy operating system and web browser are to blame. The cronic problems that I read about from those who use Windows are almost unbelievable. Rebooting all the time, crashes, inconsistent behavior... I can't fix those for you by "fixing" my own website.

Dave

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

dave, when it happened the other night, it wasn't just DG. I experienced it a lot of places. I thought for a minute... well, that doesn't matter. but it wasn't just here.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Same here Dave. I went to Yahoo to check things out and had a problem there too. Several sites wouldn't load pictures, so it was widespread. Just glad it is working again. I get used to seeing the thumbnails in place and I kept thinking I couldn't use Daves because they weren't loading. I could read though!! Duh!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

It is kind of weird that it happened to so many of us at the same time. (Yes, I was in the same boat as y'all :)

When Google's logo wouldn't download, I knew it wasn't a DG-centric problem, though. I rebooted three times yesterday, which is a first (but hopefully a last - generally speaking our four networked PCs stay on 24/7 without any rebooting necessary.)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

All of you who had this problem - what browser/version are you using?

Have been following this discussion with interest, because I've been having the same problems. The DG logo still won't load, and many of the thumbnails don't load -- but when I click on them, they enlarge and display just fine. I don't see how it could be a DG problem, as graphics on other sites are not loading properly, either. The problems have been intermittent and ongoing for about five or six days. I use IE verson 5 for Mac.

Manhattan Beach, CA(Zone 11)

I use MS Internet Explorer 5 with Win98 since day one and it is working flawlessly (knock on wood). When we all had this problem it would ONLY begin screwing up AFTER going to the DG PDB.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Mine was working perfectly at the time Brugie and Doc's went out.

Thanks gw, seems there are an awful lot of us in the same boat!

However, I'm lucky (so far) it hasn't happened again for me despite spending some time in the PDB - which is where many seem to feel they are first affected

I don't know but it only happens after trying to view certain thread photos!

I am using IE

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

it's here again:) fun fun. and not just DG. weird

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

It looks like some of the images are trying to load, this last time I rebooted I got half of the dave's logo before it goofed up!

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

I spoke too soon. All the photos and logos have disappeared again :-(

Soooooo frustrating

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Everything has been fine for me all day, but when I went to the Bismark thread in the Pets Forum -- http://davesgarden.com/t/379124/ -- the same thing happened to me. No DG logo, no thumbnails showing. It says something like seven pictures are downloading, but it's just churning away. And now all graphics are gone from all pages I go to. It only happened after trying to view that thread, which someone else mentioned was a problem for them.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Yes, I feel we cannot know discount the possibility that something weird is happening to our browsers as a result of something on this site.

Dave do you have any explanation as to how the Bismark thread could affect a number of us in this way?

BTW after closing down for the night and then booting up this morning I have photos and logos back again - but, though I'd love to find out what Bismark looks like, I shan't be risking taking a peek

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Ah, I found there has been more discussion on the Aotearoa's thread, so I have posted there

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

hi philomel, how are you? i just saw your post...how is the batman? i've been out of touch for so long! hope all is well with you both!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Well, I tried Opera web browser and it does eliminate the photo problem, but it has so many other quirks I can't stand it! The pages don't refresh themselves automatically like they do on IE and even reloading and refreshing them manually each time sis not wor half the time. It was faster but it would mess up the print when I scrolled up or down. So I am back to IE. I'll uninstall Opera ASAP and try Netscape.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Hi meiyu, good to see you back. We're both fine thanks, see you around :)

Zany, that's interesting. As you pointed out on the other thread though, that doesn't solve Dave's problem with the majority of his existing and potential members and visitors.
I just hope he'll start to see things from their point of view and try to get to the bottom of what's gone on. Fascinating that you've narrowed it down to just one poster!! That must surely mean something. I'm not suggesting for a minute that it's intentional, but must make finding the problem/solution that bit easier to unravel

I was having this problem before the Bismark photo was posted.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I didn't look at the Bismark photo and it happened to me.

Everything works for me in all browsers... Using WinMe. Sometimes the logo is slow to load; but that's always a problem with my ISP.

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

Same with me Calalily, now my computer is all goofed up because I tried switching to netscape and I somehow now I've REALLY goofed up all my settings, I can't get to my homepage or e-mail!!
