"Eyes", daffodils sprout

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

eyesoftexas, remember you had sent me some narcissus bulbs? They have been there for 5 months now and the two of them are growing like this. What do you say?

eyesoftexas, please have a look at this.

Very nice seeing them poke up out of the ground after their long dormancy isn't it! The are looking good Dinu. I know you will enjoy them when they bloom.

I have kept the pot on the eastern side of my room so that it will not get direct sunlight after noon. It will get good sunlight for a couple of hours or so in the morning with the Citharexylum tree holds up much of the sun till about 10am. I do not want to lose them because I have liked them so much, having received from a special person. I try to maintain moisture in the soil there but am not keeping it too dry. Is that right?

Doing good Dinu.........I just found this, and you don't know how happy this has made me, and I hope athey will make you happy for years to come!!

Nice to see "eyes" through my eyes! That's great news. By the way what colour is it? Aw, don't tell me.. let it be a surprise for me.

The tips are now getting brown. May be because of the summer heat? It got to 36C max last early this month and till now it is about 34-35. Rains are expected in the next few days and that will cool the heat. Is that a bad sign? Still, another bulb in the same pot is yet to sprout.

Dinu, sorry sweetie, but they won't bloom with it that warm. Not to worry, they will bloom better for you next year.

I'll wait. I'm not overwatering it. The temp is expected to reduce by about 4-5 degrees C in the coming months. We use the Celsius more instead of the Farenheit.

Dinu, here the Daffodills are the first things to pop out in the spring and bloom. They flower in the cool, rainy early spring and are always a very welcome sight. They must be allowed to die back with their leaves not cut off until they are brown in order for the bulb to form the following years flowers. If they don't bloom this year just leave the pots in a shady spot and next spring you should be rewarded with cheery daffodills and they should then return year after year.

That is encouraging, Zany. Will keep that in mind. Thanks for the advice. In college,we had a poem titled "Daffodils". I have forgotten the author's name.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

That sounded familiar. Yes, it was Wordsworth. What a difference it makes to read it after 30 years. We never bothered to learn the meanings of poems - it was one boring subject. Thanks for taking me down memory lane, Zany.

Actually, I think we both strolled down memory lane on that one. I had not read it since grammer school myself and was amazed I still remembered it!

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Your memory lane was much longer than mine! What a coincidence!

Yes, a trip back to grammer school at my age is indeed a long one :~)
