I don't know in your zone,I planted mine in pots, transfered into the garden and they grew and bloomed like crazy...

dug them up in the fall......

Thanks cc.
I think that is what I am going to do-don't want to lose them.

Colie, I'm in 7b south of Atlanta. Planted in full sun in a protected area and they came back and multiplied. If they're not protected, I'd dig em up--too wonderful to lose!

However last fall I moved em and raked up the markers this spring ): so let me know when yours come up, I can't tell mine apart from the Crocosmia!

Thanks violabird.
I just planted mine a few days ago in pots & plan on planting them outside after the night temp. gets warmer.
When they start coming up I will let you know.

A couple years ago, I tried growing them in pots here in zone 5 and all I got was foliage, no blooms. I hadn't fertilized with heavy nitrogen or anything, so I'm not sure what happened. Maybe my three bulbs were just duds. Do they normally bloom the first season? These were small bulbs...from that legendary supplier Michigan Bulb. Freebies with something we tried once. No more~!

Hello, ya'll,
I LOVE tuberose.

Even in Mexico, where they are native,
they are gown in pots on patios.

They LOVE heat and only require
normal to light watering.

The doubles can ceomes top-heavy
when in bloom, so you may need
a supporting stake.

The singles do not become top-heavy.

I have grown them in the ground, but
they tend to fade away after a few years

I would dig them up, or, just order new
each year and and treat as an annual bulb.
(That is what I do).

I have discovered that they have a wonderful
intoxicating perfume when in war/hot humid
climates, especially at night. But when I
cut blossoms and bring them into the cooler
(75 F) and drier house, the scent almost
disappears.

I've got to see what I can trade and post in the plant trading forum. I'd really like to try them again!
