Grass!!!!!

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Snow cover is finally melting: I actually found grass yesterday!!!!! Yippee!!!! Maybe now the bulbs can actually emerge????

As the snow melted from the front garden, the Johnny Jump Ups were flowering, not sure if the flowers were from before the latest snow that fell in January, and just got frozen, but it sure was great to see flowers again :)

As much as I dislike our front grass lawn, it sure was great seeing it emerge from the overwhelming snowcover from almost the entire winter. This is what it has looked like, almost non-stop since before Thanksgiving

We've had some melting too with the last rains. It's back to cold again now ... -2º this morning. I left most of pots and containers outside this year and I've been regretting it since. I'm waiting for the snow to melt enough for me to go get some. I desperately need them for transplanting.

Oh, Kathy a photo say a thousand word!!!!!!

That is instant stratification!!!!!!!!!

Only when one sees it, appreciate a bit how your winter is and the wonder of a garden from spring to fall.

Happy gardening. Love, Cristina

lupine lover, When I moved here I decided I was not going to have a large lawn area. So I have a sort of circle in front of the house, about 50' in diameter and about the same size back of the house. There is a meandering lawn path that almost connects the two, the rest is a wood walkway by the bog garden, and a rock slab path by the lily pools. I'd much rather have flowers. I can sympathize with you about only seeing snow outside. Four years ago we had lots of snow, I didn't see my lawn from mid Nov. to mid March. Very different here this winter. Donna

Talked to one of my OH buddies over the weekend and she said she couldn't remember the last time she had seen grass. Whew! Boy, I bet you are soooooooo glad to see spring come!
