Bloom in the garden!

Even with the ice and snow, my ground phlox has one single bloom on it. Made me so happy I wanted to cry! Yep, I do believe spring is coming! YES!

what is ground phlox?

PaintedLady: It is also called Creeping Phlox. I found it in the plants database:

Vic, that's wonderful it survived.

I am confused. This is what we call "thrift" in the south. Is it one and the same thing?

Woodspirit, I use to call it thrift too until I saw the real thrift in the nursery one day. I think that Thrift is a little different, it has a more globe like bloom to it.

Not a real good picture of it, but there is a difference. That is what I kept telling everyone I wanted for years until I realized that what I was wanting was creeping phlox.
What you have been use to seeing is probably creeping phlox.

well, that's what I was afraid of. I have creeping phlox, not sea thrift. At least I have them straight now

My mother keeps telling me that Sea Trift is a snail's dream house! I have plenty of snails, and I surely don't need more! Guess I'll stick to creeping phlox
