I mowed the lawn today.

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Yep, the grass has sure been growing with these 45 degree plus days. I noticed all kinds of signs of spring as I pushed that mower all through the garden. I saw hellebores, primroses, daffodils, crocus and lots of other things with buds swelling like the lilac. Spring is coming. Who hoo. Can't wait.

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

I'd still have to shovel a foot of snow to get down to the grass. :(

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Lenjo - do you have relatives back east? I'm in Vancouver, BC. I know that our relatives in the east absolutely hate us this time of year. SHH - they think it's raining on the west coast.

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Hi Lenjo!!! I'm in the Seattle area. I 'contemplated' mowing this afternoon! It sure needs it. The soil is still kinda 'squishy squishy'. I'm thinking about another good afternoon (or two) of drainage. We were promised (lol) a few more dry days. We have had a nice run of dry days lately. Just want to see that nice clipped lawn!
Our trees are budding, the tulips are popping and the weeds are already starting with me! LOL! Love every second of it! Hello neighbor! Sue

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Boooooo! -19º here this AM

isn't the ground awfully mushy??? ours is....if we took out the mower, and started cutting..we would probably have other garden beds!!! get my drift??? Elaine

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

Joann, you are one of those evil west coast people! My uncle will be calling mom any day to tell her how the daffodils are blooming. Such a cruel lot you all are!LOL

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Kathleen, I am sorry but not really,LOL, I love the spring and it seems we are even a little earlier than usual. Part of the lawn was squishy wishy but I was using my push mower and so I didn't make any new beds, Elaine. I will wait to take the rider out later other wise there would be ruts. I do have many relatives out of state and they are always eating fresh garden produce long before me so I don't feel too bad. Our soil doesn't really warm up enough for a tomato till end of May.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

We shoveled snow.....couldn't find the grass! :~)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Lenjo, I too thought about it, it was such a gorgeous day, can you believe this mild weather we've been having? and sunshine for 3-4 days now....up in the 50's today. We're in the banana belt now....

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

All right, quit rubbing it in!!!!! Still snow cover here, more predicted tonight and tomorrow: another 2+ inches.

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Ah, Kathy, us rub it in, no, never, it is so bright today a person needs sunglasses and the next thing you know we'll slather on the sunscreen. LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I mowed mine too ...
with a snowblower

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

I mowed mine on New Years Day since the winter has been so warm and weird here. Today we transplanted some baby trees out of their pots and into the ground. I am starting to think that snow doesn't exist anymore here in Idaho. :(

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

sniff...whine...pout... WAAAHHHH!!! Grass!!! Mine was all dug up when we built the house, and even if there was some it would be covered in snowbanks. Probably will be for a good while yet too. The temperature seems to be stuck between -20 and +20.

I spent a fair amount of time today trying to come up with a landscaping plan for spring. That helped a little with the winter blues until I decided I needed to go outside and take a look at some things. Ugg! Everything is white.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

There there Joan dear. It will be alright. You will have grass again. I call mine grass but it really is weeds that the former owners left for us. I hope this year is the year that we can plant some new grass but the drought must be over with first. Now calm down Joan and you will probably have good grass before I do.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Thank you! I'm wiping my tears. I have made a little progress with my landscape plans and I feel good about that. Yes, the drought is definitely a factor, because new grass needs lots of water. I hope it's a wonderfully rainy year so we can both get our grass growing.
Hugs,
Joan

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

The few south-facing areas are having grass show through: boring beige. Blah!

Definitely need some green! Green grass, growing gracefully, gladly, goodness gracious!

When is St. Patrick's Day that I can paint it???
