How low did you go? Any suprises?

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

It went down to 19 here, the next night 25.
It wacked a lot of Camellia buds, but other than that I don't think there was much damage to my plants.
The biggest surpise here was my butterfly bushes. They lost most of their leaves with the first frosts in December. Then started a lot of new growth that has made it through light frosts most every night since. I thought they would for sure call it quits this time but didn't.
They act like nothing happened. I had no idea they where this hardy. The photo was taken yesterday.

We hit 13, and the next night 18...Cold for us..lol..We had some crop damage to produce, but it could have been a lot worse. I just hope it got some of the bugs that will be here in a few weeks.

You guys must be having a heat wave. We hit 3 degrees here, which is practically unheard of. Normal highs for this time of year are in the high teens to 20s at night, anywhere from mid-30 to 50s during the day.

That was, to answer your question, rather a surprise.

Larkie, what kind of winter crops are you growing. Hope the damage was minor.
Brook, I bet that was a surprise! LOL. 3 degrees, I can't imagine that, or the electric bill I would get if that happened here.

Paintedlady,
Our winter produce includes about 600 acres of Collards, Cabbage, Mustard and Turnip greens..We have our own processing shed and sale to area stores...
