Put my seeds in a safe place- now I can't find them!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Tell me I'm not the only one that miss places things, time and time again.
I puchased some castor bean seeds and wanted to put them in a safe place away from kids and dogs. I sure did, now I can't find them anywhere. I've been digging my house apart. Make me feel better and tell me I'm not alone *snort*

Been there, done that.
Start from scratch, if you were going to hide something from the kids & dogs, you would put it.................

I have seeds everywhere!!! One main large box, one smaller near the computer where I try to put them now, and still there are some I can't find. Bought some nice coleus seeds, hmmmm......

NOT TO WORRY! I still can't find some seeds that I purchased from Tom Clothier's site last Fall! I've torn the house apart lookin' for them! Where ever they are hiding, it certainly is a safe place!!!

I have done that many times. I have done the exact same thing at least a dozen times. and when I am putting them in a safe place, I think I am being really clever, but then I forget them. Last year I had some seeds that I was especially excited to plant, so I put them onthe fridge door, on a clip magnet, well...then other stuff was clipped to it, with the seeds behind, and I completely forgot until I was cleaning the fridge door and throwing out stuff that was on it.....

The safest place to store your seeds: inside the refrigerator. Keeps them cool and dry (not sure how well tropical seeds would do in cool air, but for other things, this is the best place!) Just be careful not to eat the castor bean seeds! Put the packs in a box that kids won't think is something good, like a box of All-bran ;D

I'm with you on that one. When we moved from the trailer house into this STILL unfinished house in October, I *thought* I put my seeds in the crawl space of the new house, as I figured that was the coolest place for them. But, I was searching for them on and off all weekend so I can see what I have and don't have before I place my seed order. I'm most concerned about my tomato and pepper seeds, because I need to start them sometime in the near future. I can't find them anywhere. But, the crawl space has been used as a temporary storage place for most all of our stuff, so it's pretty packed.

I'm totally at loss as to what I have and don't have, so I think I'll just order everything again. Tomato seeds, pepper seeds, and flower seeds for the new landscaping too. It may be next fall before I get all these boxes unpacked so I can find things again, and that's too long for me to wait. LOL

Please send me your new mailing address. I have plenty of Tomato, Pepper and Flower seeds for your new garden!

My hubby and I dug some really nice and unusual canna bulbs a couple of years ago and he swears that he took them into the fruit room to store for the winter. They have never been found! I wonder when they show up if there will be any life left in them? LOL Poor pitiful things. I also have two coffee cans of seeds that he stored with those cannas. LOL Ok where is the grinch who stole my GARDEN?

After hiding so many things from ourselves for so long, we have a small file box now that we make a note telling us where we hide everything. For instance...Seeds are filed under S and when we find the card it tells us that they are under the bed in the spare room or in the refrigerator, etc. Now, if we lose the file box we are out of luck.... Could happen, knowing us!!!

It's really embarrassing when you offer someone something in a trade, then can't find them - I did this with some white marigold seeds, I just had to apologize and offer somethng else. I did find them several weeks later - right wherre I put them, Lol!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

I FOUND MY SEEDS!!!! YEAH!!!!!!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm SO HAPPY for you Kristi!!! Where were they hiding???

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Here a picture for you to see, they were behind the little picture on the counter. Note the drawers in the photo- I cleaned each and every one looking for this darn seed packet.

I do usually keep all me seeds in the frig- however I was leary to do this with the castor beans. I have a three year old who likes to 'plant' seeds.

Of course do you think the kitchen counter was the safest place? I'm a DORK...

If I didn't lose things the house would really be in a mess. I got ready to send some seeds a couple of weeks ago to fairyhunter and looked and looked and couldn't find. I had a box that I had cleaned off a shelf before Christmas and I happened to stumble over the box and looked in there and there they were. Wait until you get old and it gets worse. The bad part is when you lose your glasses. Been there several times. Have to holler for Bobbie to come and find them. Jim

Don't feel bad Kristi. You put them behind the small picture so that they wouldn't get wet or splashed with food stains...I would've done the same!!!

Now that you've found YOUR seeds, we ALL could use YOUR HELP! So, come on over and go seed hunting with us :~)

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

and canna hunting. I would still like to see where he hid those even though they are dead by now. :(

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Pond, don't give up hope! You might be surprised how long canna tubers can stay in storage: I found a bag 3 years old, almost half of them were still alive.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Really? Now I am going to really start looking for them in earnest! That would be so neat if those minis lived! They were so pretty and I haven't seen more on the market here.

Bay City, MI(Zone 5a)

Oh boy, if i had a "dime" for everything i "put away" or even better yet something "i just had a minute ago", i would be the richest person in the world :) CRYMIN ITLEES!
So now when i put things away i write where they are on my calendar!! no kidding it works pretty good( it's a huge calendar!)As for the keys or whatever i just had in my hand and set down and LOST, well i just say, ok, if i were THAT ITEM, where would i be?? On, and another good one, if i have lost one earring on the floor and can't find it? i just take the other one and throw it on the floor, that way it is much easier and faster to find the other one!, LOL

Tootsie, you reminded me of the really old joke about the man who was sitting in a two hole outhouse with a friend. When he stood up he accidentally dropped a five dollar bill out of his pocket and down the outhouse hole. He saw what he had done and threw a $20 bill in after it.

His friend said, "You must be nuts! What did you do that for?"

The first man said, "You don't think I'm going to crawl down in there for just $5 do you?"

I've lost 3 bags of seeds three weeks ago and I cannot locate them anywhere! I cleared them off the dining room table, and now they are gone! I wanted to start a lot of them indoors, they were my hardy geraniums I'd been collecting, my morning glories and clematis! (Luckily my Japanese MGs were not in that bag!) As soon as I relace these seeds, the others will show up. Never fails!

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Tootsie, so then you lose the pair instead so you aren't so worried about losing only one. LOL

Elena, FOFLMBO. That was funny!

Today we returned some small hinges and bought bigger ones for our son's storage shed that he is building. When we got home and had installed the hinges I went for my pruners and in finding them I found the exact same size of hinge that we had just bought and installed!!! I wonder how long it will take for us to use THOSE hinges? LOL

I just remembered that I bought that set of hinges at a garage sale a couple of years ago and put them in the basket that they were in so they would be easy to see and we might just use them. LOL Brain dead here.
