i am trying to get into hydroponics...please post if you have done this, or are currently doing it. Any tips and advice is more than appreciated. I have a very small apartment, small patio...and it is dimly lit. I've already bought some garden gro lights and most will be in the storage bedroom.
for willing victims...er test subjects for Hydroponics, here is a really great link for creating your own cheap hydroponic systems...i'm going to try them next month after doing more research and buying supplies

need info regarding hydroponics
I have very modest outdoor gardening experience, but do have extensive home hydro experience with various systems, including flood and drain, run to waste, NFT and aeroponics. I have built a few systems with off the shelf parts, and bought others. I make my own nutrients.
The best place to begin is Growing Edge. They are pretty much the benchmark in North America. The magazine is better than the web site. The books they publish are very fine quality (I own most of them).
The New Zealanders and Aussies are better at this, but their information is less well organized (you will notice a lot about New Zealand in Growing Edge). The Swiss and the Israelies are by far the best, but there you run into language issues.
Hydroponics was invented by an Israeli. That could probably be debated though, as the hanging gardens of Babylon may well have been hydroponic.
As in gardening, there is a lot of mysticism and voodoo associated with hydro. But fear not, hydro is a pragmatic process in which it is possible to measure your inputs and have rather certain knowledge of the outputs because of the controlled environmental factors (temperature, light, nutrition, etc).
If you are thinking of trying commercial scale hydro, we can discuss some of the financial metrics involved.
Bubble, bubble, soiless trouble ("fun" sounds better but doesn't rhyme).
Adam.
