Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Those are some BIG skeeters! Bet they're like the Canadian ones which carry off small children!

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

And you have never tasted an onion like the ones I will bring if you think those vidalias are onions. Snort!!! I would rather eat an apple than those! Give me that old fashioned ONION taste!

Hey Root, are you coming?

Mcallen, TX(Zone 8a)

Ahhh, love ya'll, chers....

Thanks for mekkin me laugh harder
than I have in...well, I caint member.

I'll make some smothered BEEF steak, ju

wuh grazed.

Rice and mashed taters like Aunt Flora
in Hessmeh does...

and begnets homeade from my Daddy's
recipe....he was a cook (when chefs

in Nawlins. Oh, and some peacemakers.

And homemade cream ice with blackberries
picked this mornin.....

Love ya'll...keep dat food comin, heah?

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Ah, beignet and coffee at Café Du Monde! Gets me mindful of my honeymoon, but I think we went to Morning Call instead. If this goes on much longer, I shall have to cash in a few favors and get on down to the Crescent City. Granddarling who is only six is clamoring to go to Mardi Gras! Of course, you almost need a shoe horn to get within ten parishes of Nawlins, but I do have a few friends in low places. That mention about Marksville almost did it. Ya'll are sweet cruelty to this relocated La. granny. Turtle soup time!

Mcallen, TX(Zone 8a)

"low places" as in Nawlins (sea-level-wise)
or as in dives ????

Where zackly are you from?

My family is in Hessmer, cept for one
who is a prof at LSU in Baton Rouge

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

root, I am still waitin' on ya. Where are ya? (worry, worry)

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

Ummmm...........Lavanda, you would't perchance share your daddy's begnet recipe, would you???? Pleeeeeeze??? Yumm-O, those are sooooo good. AND...........looks like ya'll need some good old Wisconsin CHEESE for this feeding frenzy. Swiss, cheddar, any kind you could want. Even LIMBERGER!!!! If'n rootdoctor can't fit everyone in, I can pick some of you up on my way, we have a big Crew CAb truck, so don't be shy about asking for a ride! See ya at the trough. :>)

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

root is sure taking his time getting me out here. I wonder if he is on the road or not? Maybe he got into that beer he was bringing along. Anybody heard from him lately?

Mcallen, TX(Zone 8a)

I will send ya'll the beignets recipe, but not for the next few days.

Will advise when it gets posted, and it will be posted on the food forum.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I'm almost there Lani! Don't give up!
I'm on 84 headin west, took a little sibebar, thru yellowstone, did some Hotpottin in Mammoth.

Toss your Boots on,tell the girls to grab their sleepin bags!

Anna,I filled my 10gl steamer with chili to keep us warm, bring some Mossarella an crackers.

sounds like we let em calm down enuf we can sneak right across that La. border an set up camp without em being any wiser.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

I wish you would have waited for me to go through Yellowstone adn Mammoth. I used to work there when I was a kid and I know a lot of places that others don't know about that are really beautiful. Hmmmmmm I just realized that Yellowstone roads are closed this time of year. So you must have done it by snowmobile. Does your truck have skis?

I got my sleeping bag, an extra warm one since the south is having colder weather than we are right now. I also tucked in some hand and toe warmers as we might be able to make some money with those down there. I am sure there are a lot of southerners that have cold hands and toes that would be willing to pay plenty for these things.

Ohhhhh I LOVE chili with baked potatoes! I'll have some ready for the trip and a warmer that can be plugged into your cigarette lighter. Yum yum but watch out the next day from all those beans!!!!! That should give us enough gas to make it to LA.

I have everything ready for the trip. Main thing is plenty of fudge, apples, pears, taters and onions. And some seeds to trade with the others. No plants this time of year but it will be a fun trading day anyway.

Yup let em calm down as we travel along and then WHAMMY we will hit them with our northern hospitality!!! They won't know what hit them that way. wink wink.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Pondi,I worked in Mammoth for a year, stocked produce in the park store,Know all the back roads, thats what took me so long.
Heck them southerners are getting alittle of our nice weather,we can take our time, they will be huddled up by a stove by the time we get there.
By the time we get back thru yellowstone it just might be warm again down there.
If we hurry maybe we can get em to turn on the football game, coarse being from MI.I'm not gonna be watchin anything but Hockey.
Sure don't think we can even start to explain a game on ice to them.LOL

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

LOLOLOL Root. Ice to them is something that they would put in their drinks. Not skate on. But they should be at least able to understand some of the cold that we go through. I would rather go through a few months of cold weather than take that southern heat and humidity though.

I have some really good scalloped potatoes waiting for your arrival. And a good thick home raised steak to put on the bar-b-que. We wouldn't want to start such a loooonnnnnngggg trip to the south hungry would we? And if you want fish to eat they are free for the catching in my big pond. But don't tell those southerners that I have bullfrogs just waiting for spring out there. They would come and eat them!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I tell ya what,I have a big ole 4X4,I say we take a tour north and pick up Weezin,Bet she could use a little sun tan time down south,We can wrap them scallops in tinfoil to make the trip up the coast,I'm not takin that steak anywhere, cause I'm pretty hungry after pottin.
Maybe we can talk Weez into gettin some salmon to go,I know them Cajuns ain't seen much seafood bigger then a bug.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

yeah they call those things mud bugs and they really do eat frog legs! Why would anybody ever want to eat a poor defenseless frog? Besides you would think that they would croak.

I think that would be fun to go north and get Weez. We could have more of that smoked salmon and I can bring some extra coolers for it.
