In todays Washington Post newspaper, the discovery of a very rare orchid, 'Phragmipedium kovachii', was disclosed!
Please read the attached article. There is more to this magnificent find...............James Michael Kovach in his greenhouse. "Why is it not okay for me to seek recognition for my work? It's okay for the U.S. attorney to try and throw me in jail to enhance his career, but it's not okay for me to exploit an opportunity?"

Very Rare Orchid, 'Phragmipedium kovachii', Discovered!
All I got was a form to fill in :(
I filled it in Baa (which may or may not have been foolish) and got the page which is fascinating and poses lots of questions.
Thanks for the link Shirley, very interesting
Baa & philomel,
Sorry about filling in "the form" for the Washington Post newspaper. I think it is their way of seeing the readership of various articles and the number of "hits" that are made at their website. You can either use real or fictious information (if you feel uncomfortable with giving out personal info). This happens with ALL their news clippings. It is just one more thing that we have to deal with in cyberspace.
If others are uncomfortable with filling in the form for the Washington Post, I will be happy to scan and then attach the article. Please let me know.
Yes, the article brings up many interesting and controversial subjects on plant exploration, as well as, making the reader think about many of the un-answered questions.
Shirley
BTW, here is another article and photo of this magnificent orchid.

Thanks Shirley but I'm going to pass on that for today, maybe I'll brave it tomorrow.
