White Flower Farm/Shepard's Seed Catalogue

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

I got my new one yesterday; it used to be they were separate catalogues; this year they have combined into one.

I think I liked it better when they were separate; IMHO the seeds are given short shrift in this new format.

I, too, found the new catalog (with new printing format) in my mailbox. I was pleased to see a few tropical and/or tender perennial additions like EE's and dahlias even though there is not much variety among them. It seems like they offer more grasses this year also, but still just a sampling of what's available.

Seeds will no longer be sold in stores, only sold online. That may be good as I either find what seeds I want already sold out, or not included in the displays. Now I can limit my purchasing to just one location: online, and not have to remember if I already got that seed packet from a local store.

This catalog used to have great information as to what plants made good companions? Do they still do that?

Oh, yes, Lenjo... they still excel at that!

I agree: the White Flower Farm part of the catalogue is still outstanding. Many woody plants and perennials offered, along with companion suggestions. Just the veggie seed offerings seemed much less well-described, and seemed to be many fewer (that might be a false impression, tho, I haven't really counted).

I am sorry if the seeds will not be sold retail anymore. A local nursery always carried a selection of theirs, and many other small seed-sellers. It will be a loss if they are discontinued.
