several questions....

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9b)

I have a ginko biloba that someone gave me about 8 months ago. I have it in a pot. It has done just great but now that winter (OK...spring type weather for most of you...in Florida) has set in, its leaves have yellowed and fallen off. Is this normal?

My achimenes in pots died back and are now trying to come up again. Should I just leave them to their own schedule or dig them up and store for a few months?

Thanks in advance!

I think your ginko has only gone dormant. It's normal for them to drop their leaves for winter. It buds out sorta late in the spring here.

I killed my Ginko, even after it survived a winter encased in ice! Something to do with the soil...

And if you got your Achimenes to bloom, you are way ahead of me. Will be watching for the answers to these questions!

Our Ginkgo buds late too.

If your Achimenes is still producing young leaves then leave them to it. If you take the young growth off now and store them they will only try and carry on growing and eventually exhaust themselves to their detriment. If and when the growth all dies off, store them at 50F in a dry place until Spring.
