Can a peony root be divided? Can you take cuttings? How do you propogate? Any info would be great. Thanks!
Peonies
Hi Mick
Peonies can be divided but they really HATE disturbance. It may prevent them from flowering for a year or two but after they have resettled and gotten "happy" again they'll bloom again.
They can be propagated by seed but will take 4-5 years to flower, seed can take up to a year or two to germinate from what I understand, then will take the plant another 2 or 3 years to flower.
Have never tried or know about cuttings for them...

what about layering. Take a branch and scar it and pull it down to the dirt and cover with dirt and then a rock. It should root in a season or less and then you cut it from the mother and plant it with it's new roots.
