Happy Happy Birthday Alexandra! I hope your day was great! What a neat family you have.

Not only is Alexandra pretty and blessed to have such a great family, but she is one heck of an artist, I know because I have one of her drawings!!!! Hugs to you! Lisa

(Shoe, your story was definately a 10+ on the brownie point scale)

Folks, here I sit. That pic Lisa posted is from a goody pack she sent to us. Everything in that pack is represented in that drawing. (And that hillbilly...sits on my computer as I speak!)

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Did you say the hillbillie sits on your computer or AT you computer? *Evil* Wickeg Grin! LOL

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

oooh funny zany, that Hillbilly came from Jesse's or My grandmaw's house, it is very old..I have been having it here for some time and everytime I passed by it..I would look at it and it needed to go to Shoe. (don't know why *wink*)

What Shoe didn't mention is the drawings are shaped like a Christmas tree. Everything that was sent is represented in the drawing. I am going to get it framed and it will hang on my wall. I love it!

Hmmmmm maybe Shoe is still recovering from all the lovin' that he deserved from this thread!

okay,..okay. Here's the lowdown...

I picked DD up from school, we splurged and went to Wendy's for a snack! Then off to a friend's store who makes jewelry, and DD picked out a nice set of ear-rings. We even got a nice box AND wrapping paper to wrap them in. THEN, off to the next stop!...and we picked out an Angel food cake (DW's favorite and insisted on by DD). (No, I didn't bake a home-made cake!) We also picked up a bottle of wine, and a bottle of ginger ale!

When we got home, DD went in and started the clues for a "scavenger hunt"....I went to the shoffice and finished my end of the deal.

At the designated time, I went up to the house. Alexandra had to follow the clues made by DW (from bathroom to bedroom to living room to bedroom) and finally found her present (ear-rings). While reading the two home-made cards that DD made, and getting happier by the minute, she thought that was all there was. Then DD/Alex went and got the cake and showed her there was MORE! Finally, I asked Alex to give her the last present...she unzipped my coat, reached in and got a folder. It contained the print-out from the DG thread AND a CD. The CD was home-made also!

That CD (we recorded it!) started out with words from Alex, "happy birthday mom!" and "and now, here's a story I really like"...and then you heard me telling a story (that is one of Alex's favorites!), and at the end, Alex saying again, "Happy Birthday!" and singing the Happy Birthday song.

It was a touching moment. I fixed drinks (glass of wine for us, glass of ginger ale for Alex), and we ate cake and listened to the CD. WE smiled and laffed. All of us!

All in all, a nice birthday surprise. She loved it. 'Twas a very personal time. NO big deal, just us family! A perfect time.

Thru-out the evening Alexandra read all ya'lls words, tickled to death! She loved it, folks! Trust me, this will certainly go down in history! This will be a great part of her scrap book (or memoirs).

Thanks Friends! Ya'll are the best!
It just can't get no better than this!
H.

Way to go, Shoe & Crew! For those special folks like Alexandra, you've got to give a little of yourself to truly touch them, and that's what you and the family have done!
