Yeah, I thought about how nice it would have been to have found Shoe when I was young, but he wouldn't have been born yet. But it makes me feel good to know there is one of him anyway.

27 years ago I pulled into a gas station with a friend because the van was overheating and we didn't know where the radiator was. This guy came over and lifted the consol to show us and by the time we left he had my name, address and phone number as well as a dat for the folloeing night. He showed up at the house 5 hours later and played Sitting Bull with my date for the evening. My date got a bit upset and departed and my Gas station p/u stayed talking till dawn. We dated for a few months anddecided we should probably make it official so we have been together ever since. He spoils me rotten and even after they fixed his eyes he still tells me I am beautiful. He is the only Prize I want or need but he still likes to be the one to go to the gas station....something about not knowing what I might bring home if I go....

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Zany, what a nice and cute story!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

HAH! Very good story Zany! Loved it!
(Now as for you ms Aimee...I ain't no young kitten in a paperbag! "I'm as old as my mouth, and younger than my teeth!") (So there!)

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL! I was going through a wild tome on my life back then so I had to clean it up a bit left out the part about how I got his attention ;~)

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Awww, Zany, can't you put it into a new thread in parking lot? Sounds too good to miss...

lovely stories....

Thinking back on my marriage I realize that there are different kinds of gardens. Whilst I struggle to have a garden but do have a lot of ferns, i did nurture and grow a different kind of garden.

For a short time the bed was empty. I worked the soil with love and comittment. Prepared the ground for planting and waited. Pretty soon teh most precious little flower showed her pretty head and my garden began to grow. Soon after three more precious flowers grew and the garden became full and sweet. I nutured my little flowers, fed them, watered them.. loved them so they would be beautiful to any who walked by.
I lovingly pulled the weeds when they tried to ensnare them and hinder their growth and encouraged them that the rain was there to help them grow and not to hinder them.
all the season came and went and my little garden family grew.
now, my precious little first flower is out preparing her own garden bed for her new man and family life.
I hope she takes with her some of the seeds I planted in the early days and has the enjoyment of the same beauty I had.
Now there is a gap in my garden bed. As I looked at it over the last few days I realized that it was time to till that spot and prepare for little grandflowers! lol
things never really end they just change. beauty is always there if you look.
i am thankful for my marriage though now gone, because it gave me the most beautiful garden to tend and a constant reminder of how wonderful life can be!

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh, Wonder! That was just beautiful! Just beautiful...

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

Shoe that was very touching. Most men wouldn`t want to be thought of as romantic or caring but as macho and tough. It takes a special person to tell the world how he feels about his wife. I would like to wish her a very special Happy birthday and to tell her she is so lucky to have someone to think of her as the light of his life. I pray that the two of you will have a lot of wonderful years together.

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

What a blessed woman you have, I have a feeling you are just as blessed. It seems you take the Lord's command to 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you' serously and are rewarded well.
Happy & blessed birthday to your wife.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks Folks! For all the wishes and words, and for sharing.

I'm gonna print this out tomorrow and get it ready!

Happy Day to you all!
Keep smiling! ô¿ô

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

Please wish the lucky lady a happy birthday from me also. You are both so lucky to have each other. ("Ain't Love Grand?" I have been in love for 25 years now. I have been happily married for 49. Just kidding! I can't be serious too long! It puts a strain on my mischief making. Don't print that part. Some comedian told that but I can't remember who. Maybe Rodney Dangerfield.)

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

You're so welcome, Shoe! She deserves it!

"Most men wouldn`t want to be thought of as romantic or caring but as macho and tough." Yep, Busybee, you are so right. But like I told a couple of Kenny's buddies who gave him a hard time about telling me "I love you" in public: "You know, it takes a man who's very secure in his masculinity to do something like that and not feel funny about it."

Happy Birthday again, Alexandra!!

Happy Birthday to HS' DW!

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Happy Birthday Mrs. Shoe. I think I will tell you about my DH.
I met him almost 30 years ago and I have been in Love with him ever since the first time he talked to me. He has the sweetest soul and he is not afraid to cry or to express his love of his family in public. He tears up during movies, from happiness and from sadness. He is a wonderful friend to all of my friends and will give a person the shirt off his back if they really need it and will also give the kick in the butt if they need that. He goes to his job without complaint just because he loves his family so very much and knows that we would not survive without that money. He will let me work at a job if I want to do it or not if I don't. He feeds all the critters that I drag home without complaint and even takes care of them when I can't or don't have the energy to do it. He digs holes where I want them dug, plants plants that I direct where I want them, waters the pastures, plays with the animals, was a great father to our son, helpful all the time. He is most supportive of my health problems and has never complained that he got stuck with me. He lives to love us in the greatest of capacity and he is the air I breathe! I love this man and all he stands for. I am a lucky lucky person to have found him indeed and I hope for this for all others in search of their true soul mate! Thank you Wayne for being there for me and thank you Shoe for giving me a forum to tell the world about this wonderful guy I have called my husband for 28 plus years! Again, Have a wonderful birthday Mrs. Shoe and you gotta love this guy a lot for his thinking of this tribute to you. Lani

Crossville, TN

Lani...a big hug from me to your darling Wayne...he deserves a hug from all of us! Jo

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow! What a tribute, Pondy! Ya'll both are blessed, eh? (Now, you're SURE he'll let me fish in that pond someday, right? ;>)
Jianhua, those are some pretty good "honey words" you just wrote yourself! Thanks!

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

OMG I need those PUFF'S again, my keyboard is getting all wet!!!!!!

Just to add some a little more for Mrs. Shoe to read, let me tell you about my DH!!!!! His name is Mark and he is a meer 35 year's old! (yes I married a much younger man) As you guy's know he took it upon himself to build me the most beautiful pond last winter, and I did not even ask!!!!!
But what you don't know is we met in the early 90's because we had some of the same friend's! It seemed that we alway's were at the same party's or at the same club. I was recently divorced and was pretty wild and crazy after being married for 12 year's but I did keep my eye on him from time to time (cause he was just sooooo cute) but I would blow him off cause I did not want to get involved!!!!

Anyway year's go by and in 1996 I had my twins (I KNOW I MUST HAVE BEEN ON DRUG'S) and was not married nor did I want to get married.
I had not seen Mark for about a year and a half when one night my girlfriend Rita made me go out with her to a club and low and behold there he was!!!!! That was in February of 1996. We sat and talked that night and danced (the first time) and talked some more! I told him all about the twin's and he told me how much he loved kid's but did not have any!!!! The next day he came to my house and met Austin and Kyle they were 17 month's old at the time.

To make a long story short 6 month's later we got married (something I said I would never do again) and while we were on our Honeymoon he told me that he wanted to adopt the boy's!!! I was floored but VERY happy!!! The week after we came home we were sitting in a lawyer's office getting the adoption started!!!!

It took another 4 month's to get thing's final and to track down the natural father (who was in jail) but being the bum he is, he did not fight the adoption!!! So on February 27, 1997, a very cold rainy day the four of us went to the court house and Mark legally became Austin and Kyle's DADDY!!!!!

No matter what DH ever does, like comming home late or leaving the toilet seat up, I will never forget what a wonderful man he is for giving my boy's the best Daddy in the whole wide world!!!!!!!

Just a picture of the 3 of them waiting to go into the RB Circus this past June in Atlantic City!!!!

Aaaaw, y'all done made me cry again. RR wanted me to tell how I met DH. I was working in the downtown area of Knoxville, I had to take a bus home in the evenings. I had worked late one evening and had to walk to a section of town where all the stores were already closed to catch the bus. A man had come up and started talking to me and kept moving closer and wouldn't let me leave. I'd noticed a car kept circling the block, it would pass by again and again. A very nice looking man was driving it. He finally stopped, and motioned for me to come over. I told the man bothering me that my ride was there. Bill asked if he was bothering me, told me to get in the car(hey, at least he looked cleaner than the other guy!!)and he took me around the corner to wait for another bus. He then said "what the heck, how far do you live from here?" He finally asked for my phone number, we went out on a date a week later, and dated for a while and have been married for 24 years.
Happy Birthday Ms Alexandria.
