We are both going to be gone for a long weekend to Mt. View Arkansas. Our DH's will be playing the guitar and there will be lots of music. We will leave sometime in the morning.
We'll be scarce till Sunday night...then we'll post pictures of our mini roundup.
Talk to ya'll later!
Mel and Elena's excellent adventure
Have a great trip Mel and Elena!
Hope y'all have a great time.
have fun, be careful!!
ditto what Lisa said, dudes! (or is that dudettes?) I just can't see Mel and Elena being anything like Bill and Ted (giggle)
Are you gonna see any DG'ers along the way?
Have a lot of fun.
Ya'll have fun...and come back with lots of stories and pictures. Jo
Oh, cool - have a great time! :)
Just checking in before we shut things down here.Got my camera packed and will show ya'll alll the things we did. Looks like it might rain though. Send us some good thoughts upstairs for pretty weather!
oh you gals have a great time! sounds like so much fun!
have fun girls...
Well,I'm finally getting around to posting pics of our weekend. We had such a great time that Elena told me that she'd never give me another plant if I ever came back without her!
The activities for the weekend were pretty simple. You get up of the morning and go play music and sing along.Lots of old folk ,gospel and old country songs. The men played music all day.My DH Keith played for 10 hours on Sat!
Elena worked so hard on songbooks so we could all have the words. They came in so handy.
We met people from all over the country and some were friends that we'd known for 7 years.
Here's what we do...bring chairs and sit around the court square. There will be 7 or 8 different groups playing on any weekend...and more in the summer.
Look at Elena! She's having a ball!
Even though rain threatened on Sat. we had a great time then too.
Elena had Al drive the truck 'just in case' they found something they wanted to bring back with them.
Heh Heh Heh...good thing they did!
Ask her about her purchase!
Here's another shot of everyone. We got up early and got the only covered spot on the whole place.Got to play all day!
Looks like a very, very excellent adventure!!! Sure looks like you gals had a lot of fun!! What did Elena bring back!!??

We went to eat on Sat.night when it finally started to rain. All the restruants have stages for people to perform...even the Hardee's!
Well, nothing would do until we got a little after dinner music.
My DH Keith is in the center with the maroon shirt. His good friend Dan ,from TX is there too.A couple of local girls finished out the group .
The owner had a fit and tried to hire them for the next week.Said he'd pay them and feed all of us every meal if they'd just stay.
I know ya'll had a BLAST! Just looking at the smiles on your faces I can see that I should have been there!! I guess I was in Spirit! Jo
Thanks gals...wish ya'll could have been there too.
I'm gonna let Elena tell you about her purchase.
All I bought was a little iron birdbath..SHE needed the truck!
I just stumbled over this thread and what a treat. I have anxiously awaited the posting of the pictures. I wasn't the photographer in the group since no one can beat Melody as far as photography excellence is concerned. (I didn't even take my camera out of the bag.) She has the blue ribbon for excellence in many other fields of endeavor, I might add, not to mention the fact that she is a ♫ôBeautiful Melody♫ôloved by all who meet her. I am thankful to DG for bringing such a precious person into my life. I just noticed that the musical notes that I copied and pasted didn't all turn out to be notes. I have no idea which symbols to delete so I will just leave it like it is. Ah, computers, I love them but don't understand all the stuff about them.
I am headed out the door in just a min. I will post more later. No, I didn't buy any plants! Yes, it was bigger than a breadbox and it wasn't alive, at least not since about 1910. Are you curious yet????? Bye for now.

You didn't buy a moose head, did you?????????
No, Kathleen! It is not a stuffed animal of any kind. It is bigger than a moose head though. Maybe close to the same color. I will have to research what color a moose really is. We don't get a lot of them down our way. LOL By the way, I got the package from you yesterday. Thanks so very much. Your package is on the way. We mailed it this morning. I hope you are pleased.
I'll get out there and watch for it! hehehehe!
Moose heads are brown, and musty and HUGE. My grandfather had one that he shot out west. It eventually died an honorable death on a pyre of old fence posts - there's only so much moose head one can take!

LOL! Kathleen, Yes, what I bought is brown and musty but it is not a moose in any form.
I have a stuffed pheasant I would like to cremate also. I have looked at that thing for almost 40 years (plus two stuffed bass). I have considered setting fire to the garden room just to get them outa here! Hubby is not for disposing of them however. Maybe I could drape them with black fabric and let the poor things finally "rest in peace". Kinda freeky decorating but anything would be a relief at this stage of things. Not shabby chic, just shabby!
Don't freeze your little ole self waiting for that postman, ya hear?
A Player Piano.....per chance?????
"eyes"
No eyes, but that sounds like something I could look for next year or at a Roundup. DH will likely want to take the car next time we go somewhere. LOL I guess I could say we need to camp and then we would have the truck, wouldn't we?
Now, I have had a very busy day but I am now settled down for the evening and catching up on my correspondence and what is happening at DG. I had an absolutely wonderful time in Arkansas with Mel and Keith. They are super folks and I feel like she is a family member by now and Carley is my stepdog. (That is one precious doggie!) LOL! She is right about not ever getting another plant from me if she ever goes without me. (Think that will keep her on her toes so she won't forget to take me next time? I have to really get tough to make sure I don't get left behind.) Melody's mom provided us with the most delicious fudge and brownies you ever sank a tooth into. I rationed ours out and they lasted us several days. They are gone now, "Boo hoo!" If I were going to rate the trip on a scale from 1 to 10 it would have to get a 10. It was that wonderful. Did I forget to say anything?????? Oh Yeah, my purchase.!!!
To be continued.......LOL!
Big and brown and musty and old and not a stuffed animal. It once was alive (technically, well sort of, at least major parts of it.) I think we established that, right?
A bear skin rug???? An old leather chair??
"eyes"
Nope, eyes! Sorry! I will post a picture of it soon, I am just trying to figure if I can do it. LOL! I have never posted a picture before so it might not work. I took a digital picture today but don't even know how to get the shot off the camera so I am going to ask for help and maybe I can post it. Nothing like starting from scratch in the abilities dept.! If I can't do it, I will send it to Melody and ask her to post it.
Send it on ! I'll post it!
This is too much fun!
Clues.........once was alive, ........is brown and musty..
has something to do with music..........bigger than a breadbox...........hmmmmmmmmmn.....had to have a truck to bring it home?????
"eyes"
Eyes, concerning the reference to music, our friend Melody is what the musical notes were refering to. The purchase had nothing to do with music. I guess it could be made to work for that however. That is a great clue my friends.
Melody, I will try to get the picture loaded on the computer this evening and then send it on to you. No one wants to wait for me to learn to post pictures at this point in the game. LOL That could take forever knowing my technical abilities.
An Old Grandfather Clock!! My final answer.

Actually, the subject of furniture has been in the right ball park so to speak. It is an old oak wardrobe. I have been looking for something to fill a certain space in my den for a long time. I have several old family pieces of furniture in there and that wall was awfully bare. An oak roll top desk bought used in 1935 in Little Rock Arkansas, my grandmother's oak china closet bought in 1909 and a few other items bought around the turn of the century by my family. That wall needed some height to it and the wardrobe was the right piece of furniture to go there. I am using it as a storage area for CDs, my genealogy files and pictures, my song files and for a CD player.
I can't locate the cable for getting my pictures off my digital camera. It was used last by my grandson at his house so thereis no telling where it is now. Wish me luck in my search for that thing. Darn, just when I wanted to post that picture. The price was fantastic also. We can't find bargains any longer in Nashville or in the surrounding areas. I found the prices at Mt. View antiques shops to be excellent. Looks like the truck will get to go with us from now on.
I bet it's just georgeous, Elena!! Have wheels....will travel!!
"eyes"
Maybe one of these days I will find that darn cord. Could be anywhere at grandson's house however.
I was really amused at the moose head guess. Labor Day holiday we went to a family reunion and were stretching our legs at the last rest stop before getting back to Nashville. There was this beautiful dog greeting every car that drove up. The caretaker said he had been there for several days. We brought him home, of course. He squeezed into the front seat of the truck with me. (Truck was loaded down with decorations, etc. for the reunion.) My granddarlings named him Moose. He is a Great Pyreneese and is huge and gonna get bigger most likely. He is a love. I think DH is going to get leary of taking the truck on trips from now on, whataya thinka? If I can ever find that darn cord I will try to post a picture of him also. To be continued......Ya don't wanta travel with me folks. I get in all kinds of messes!

Seems like that last two times Al has taken the truck he's come home with more than he bargained for.
The prices in Mt.View were very very good though. On new stuff as well as old.You can have an enjoyable weekend and bring home nice things for not much money.
This was our 7th year to go and I'm sure it won't be our last.We always go the 3rd week of Oct.
I have that on my calendar my friend. The truck is definitely going even if I have to leave Al at home. LOL
