Ever since I moved my garden indoors, I have been attacked by caterpillars, and while I think they are cute, they aren't cute enough to destroy my garden. How does one get rid of them? I mean besides picking them off? They just seemed to come from nowhere. I certainly didn't have them when they were outdoors or last year.
BTW, the caterpillars are bright green with a single horn. I did a search on google but didn't find any pictures that looked like mine. If anybody knows what kind they are, please let me know.
TIA
Attack of the Caterpillars
Good grief! What did you move indoors? The most famous horned caterpillar is the tomato hormworm, aka tobacco horm worm. Either handpick, cuz you can spot them pretty easily is indoors (unless you have LOTS of plants). Can also spray with Bt.
Well, gourds, tomatoes, strawberries, peppers and a couple of other things. I had to because the apt ppl are redoing the outside of everybody's apts. I can't put the plants back outside until they are done. I think I've picked off at least a dozen by now and still finding more, in fact I just found one in my BED!
YUP!!! It's definitely the tomato hornworm. Thank you shoe! I looked it up and that was them!
I did find a interesting page that describes what some garden caterpillars looked like: http://agpublications.tamu.edu/pubs/ent/b6110.pdf
