Notice in the Vines and Climbers forum opening page there is no picture or anything to indicate that there is a picture with the posted thread.

brugie, if you mean the asterisk, it's temporarily gone. see above.

I'm still on watch for "Do you have any pets?" I have hit stop watching several times.

Sugar_FL: I can't replicate that. The thread watcher seems to be working perfectly from this end. Is anyone else having trouble?

(In other news, the Edit this Post feature is back)

Dave I turned it off again & so far so good. I'll let U know if I get it back.

Is the way the two hyperlinks in Wingnut's thread show up a bug or just the result of the hyperlinks' format? http://davesgarden.com/t/361271/

That was a bug, gw, but it was fixed long ago.

A small bug:

The PDB Pictures forum no longer shows comments or name: http://davesgarden.com/t/361358/

They show up fine in the Plants DB: http://plantsdatabase.com/showpicture/9606/

Good catch. I have fixed this. It won't take effect on old threads (alas) but all new pictures will be posted correctly.

After a couple days in 'la la land' I finally noticed the major changes. It is really impressive! My only remaining question is about when the image notation will come back. BTW, I also appreciate having the SCIF notice not obstructing the 9-11 ribbon anymore. Glad you have both plainly visible again.

I also love the newest feature allowing us to post photos inside threads. Just saw that today too. Yay!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

(What is SCIF anyway? Did dave create a new creature?) (Did I miss this info somewhere?) (Is it something I can add to my repetoire when I brag about DG?)

(Shhh...I'm whispering in parenthesis so I don't stand out so "in the dark".)

(Shoe, click on the Scif logo on the bottom of the right-hand side of this page)

That is so great! You've gone into so many areas with your knowledge. I'm extremely impressed.

So in the thread GW mentioned eariler http://davesgarden.com/t/361271/ I didn't really mess up? *blush* LOL! I didn't even notice that. *sheepy face* I'll have to fix that. Thanks, GW!

(Zone 8a)

There is a big bug! I noticed on the mg war thread the views have been downgraded from over 2000 to 1200! Since I am aiming for a record thread of views I really am dissappointed that I have been shoved back quite a few noches!

Now I have to start over!

Fixing views is a low priority for me. I don't want the views to become a popularity contest among threads, and if that starts happening, I will pull the views out again.

Dave, sorry I losded the page so many times. It's a bug in my computer, I think, and it wouldn't load, so I clicked it again(and again) sorry, I'll be more patient.

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Dave, I was wondering about the "views" also: I noticed that many of them have many replies, but most have 0 or maybe 1 view. Puzzled me for a while.

If I ask prettily, will you put it back? It helps me to know if a particular new thread is interesting to others, or if I should try putting something in a different area, or whatever. Especially some of the less-visited forums like Cactus & succulents, hybridizing, shade gardens, etc.

Thanks for getting the photo notice put back! It will be easier for me to find old threads again.

I especially love the way you have the forum reminder at the bottom, too. Not just the standard "return to forum" but "return to General Discussion" or whatever. Way cool.

One more new feature that I just noticed (OK, I am slow sometimes) when I linked, it opened a new window. So far so good (for me).

The views did get (mostly) reset when I did the big conversion. Alas, it couldn't be helped.

The feature is there and the counting is working, but most threads were reset to zero just a couple days ago. The views will not be reset.

dave I tried to do the smile face thing with the capitalized colon etc. on the brug forum - doesn't show up. Tried it also on test alone - shows a blank.

What is "the smile face"?

How do you make a colon capitalized? I'm somewhat confused.

dave

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

If you look at test, the first entry showed up blank, the reply picked it up. Tried again to post the same thing and it's not even showing a post.
Is it me?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

now I'm getting 'sorry forum not found in database'

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

works now :~)

Are you using some kind of special HTML characters? I wrote and implemented an HTML filter yesterday so that almost all HTML is filtered out before the post is allowed to be inserted.

no hotmail -

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Liz, by capital colon, did you mean the character over the semicolon (;)?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

(Whispering gently...) To translate Dave's question, HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. It's a sequence of keystrokes that combine to create an effect (such as bold or italicized text), or to create a symbol not on your keyboard. There are many websites that have lists of codes.

:>)

(Hmmm...capitol colon seemed to work for me!)
(Also my raised eyebrow/peeking-at-ya look. Thanks for leaving that, dave!) (That's the only HTML I know!)

Dave; is it possible to add the -tag to the accepted html-tags?

Yes, arsenic, good idea - thanks. Would you test it and see if it works?

dave

I will:) H2O - It works:) Thanks!

(Forgot that it would be easier to try it here; than to try it in the test forum... Lol:)

Hi, Dave -- Please, could we have the HTML for bullets/line items for when we need to list steps or set items off (like in help files)?

GW, I added <li>, but not ul or ol. LI will be sufficient for lists and such. Does that sound okay?

I really do want to keep the HTML to an absolute minimum.

dave

That's cool - Just wanted to be able to clearly set apart steps in help documents, and this will help. Thanks, Dave. :)

Dave, sometimes the pages load really slow for me, is it my IE? I have broadband, and they just put in a booster thingie to get my speed up to 1500(whatever that is, but he said it should work faster). Right after they worked on my cable, DG was fast, but now it's slow again. Is it me?

Since upgrading DG to the new software:

6,925 pageloads have occurred on the forum page (that's the page that displays the twenty newest thread in any given forum). Of those hits, the average load time was 0.33166 seconds.

Threads are taking a bit longer. Of 8,309 thread views, 2.25765 is the average amount of seconds it takes to load. I'm working on decreasing that number where I can.

But, these numbers are pretty good regardless, so I'd say that your ISP may be at fault.

dave

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Thanks Dave. I called them today and they are going to run a diagnostic and something called "refresh and renew" whatever that is. They are working on upgrading the lines out here, they have too many customers for the lines. I was just wondering, because other things like google load really fast.
