Oh happy day - just in the nick of time - we are finally getting a wonderful rain. Thanks to "Hannah". As of Monday a county near us is to go on a total outside watering ban. We may get as much as 2 inches in places over the next 2 days. Don't know if this will be enough to stave off that total ban for them, but it will certainly help. My little bloomless brug leaves are perking up and the brown grass appreciates it too!!
It's raining -it's Pouring!!!
isn't it wonderful??? wanted to work outside real bad tomorrow, but don't mind if rain is what keeps me inside!
Please send it on here...Just a litle further south. We have our fingers crossed, supposed to move in here in the next few hours..
Larkie
the great thing Larkie, is that it hasn't been a hard hurting rain. it's been gently raining almost all day.
Send a little (or a lot) up here to us please? Dry as a bone, but a 50% chance of rain tomorrow: just in time for our Ohio gathering. On second thought, hold off until Sat night or Sunday for the rain you send us please (giggle)
PJ...we got it too! Have most of the new roof on and no drips...Yipeee! Let it rain! Doing the rain dance here! LOL
Keep it coming this way please!!!! They are telling us 2 to 10 inches depending on where you live. Are you getting high winds? They are telling us we could get high winds and lose trees bc their roots are weak from no rain. I hope eveyone is ok...
We're getting the tail end of some storm up here, as well. It's been raining steady for several days. I wish I could put some in an envelope and mail it down to some of you!
PPPLLLEEEAAASSSEEE!!! Send it my way too! We are having a terrible drought in the Mid-Atlantic. The worst one on record!!!
This hasn't seemed to be the ideal summer for anyone! I had a disappointing summer when it comes to flowers, but the cool weather veggies did quite well. However, my zukes usually produce at least a few, and this year I have none:[
Being a coastal town, we expect lots of rain. Actually too much rain was not our problem this year, but rather, cool weather. Things just never warmed up properly, and many of my flowers were either late or inremarkable.
I guess one has to consider it just another season, and to plan for the next with anticipation and hope.
It's beginning to storm here in Alabama! Ya'll look out!
Keep sending it more north, we are in BAD shape, real brown grass! Last we had was 10th of an inch, Aug. 23, has been in 90's ever since. What a summer!
They are predicting some heavy winds tomorrow and more rain the next two days. Just soft rains here so far starting mid afternoon for a couple of hours, then drizzleing ever since.
Careful what you wish for! ;)
if we get those hard winds tomorrow you might here me screaming!!!!! want rain, do not want all my buds on all my brugs that I've been waiting all year for to get knocked off. :(
Me too Bonnie, been waiting all summer for some brug blooms, let's not lose them!
I have that long awaited flush of blooms opening on my Isabellas too - they were so pretty today. They should be going all next week.
Grip, Gripe, Gripe!!

Ah, they think the rain will miss us. Looks like it splits and goes completely around us :( we need rain so badly.
RAIN HERE! This is so nice and it is gentle so far. It has been so dry here nothing is blooming. I am enjoying today.
We did get a bit of rain last night!! Not much, but I'll not complain. My wilted plants look much better this morning.
Well, We got a drop or two overnight... the forecast was for over 1 inch, but we actually got less than 1/10th of an inch. However, looks like the bulk of the rain is still south. Glad for the rain for all you in Hanna's path!
Yippie...rain here as well. :-))) Off and on all yesterday, last night and again today. The birds are a tad upset with me,but I'm down to 1 jug of seed so they'll just have to manage till it clears..no point in having it get wet and sprouting...although it WOULD be something green. LOL
I spent all morning moving tall potted brugs out of the wind (I hope). but Pink Beauty is already out of the calyx, ready for tonight or tomorrow and there is no place to move her into safety. if you hear loud moans like from a horror movie, don't worry, it's just me.
Calla... did the same to us, just lots of noise from 6:00 on, absolutely none, not even a drop, split, went on each side of us. Cough, cough...
Finally!
It's very soft and light right now, but it is so wonderful looking, smelling and feeling, lol..Our late summer crops and all my plants are singing songs of joy..Hope more is on the way..
Larkie
I'm sooooooooo happy to hear y'all are getting some rain!! We have more forecast for this afternoon and evening, wish I coulc share, but it's coming from the northwest so maybe, jsut maybe it'll head on out your way!!
"eyes"
How's about I just send you guys a big chunk of glacier and you can melt it when you need it?
We are 24" under here in central Vrginia and you can send it all here, lol.
If it rains I'm going to work in it!!
Have so much mulching to do and laying newspaper in the rain is idea, lol.
I wish I could even send you what's collected in my wheelbarrow, RavenBuck! Just doesn't seem fair sometimes, does it?
tiG, Azalea, how bad were the storms...they are heading this way and sound pretty scary. Everybody ok down there???
vic, just looked at the 1800 mile dopplar at weather.com and there's a lot still to come. so far so good.
Thank God...glad you're ok. It's in the county next to us now and heading this way so I probably won't be able to stay on computer long. I looked at doppler too and this is one HUGE storm. Lord help us. Stay in touch...
Hanna was a mild Tropical Storm as she passed over Panama City. We are still getting rain, rain, wonderful earthsoaking, plant reviving rain. The dreaded tornados did not happen and the wind was not too heavy. Only a few limbs down so far. After some of the storms that have come through, this one was nice. I am hoping the same for the rest of you in her path.
It was storming a few minutes ago, a short thunder storm. We got a bit more rain. The gardens already look better!!
Nature is nuturing this time! Let's enjoy.
vic, it looks like all of it is passing south of me. I pray you'll be okay!!!
We had some more good soaking showers today, a short windburst that knocked down a few dead pine limbs in our drive, some of the bigger old oaks and hickories did bend a bit - then the sun came out again. Nothing now, but more on the way tomorrow. It's really been a lifesavor for us. I think we got at least 2 inches so far since yesterday. I hope thre is no flooding or damaging winds for the rest of you.
So far so good. We have gotten 1 and 3/8 inches - and are so thankful. More on the way. We'll take all we can get. Just south east of us in SC they got some flooding and around 5 or 6 inches of rain. It's so cool to see and hear it. It's been so long....glad everyone is ok...
We have been getting it here too, in the mtns. of NC. Because most of our land is steep, the drainage is terrific, so drought is really serious. The locust trees looked like they were dying and they are wild, all over the mountains. We do have one ittle town at the bottom of the mountains in a little valley that may flood. They flood once or twice every year, but nothing too serious except for a few low-lying areas. I once canooed down main street.
LOL, woodspirit, I can just see you in a canoe on main street!! (Did you know the locust trees have a disease that's been slowly killing them for a couple of years now in our area? That's the primary reason they look so brown.)
Our rain (1.15 inches in the rain gauge) has been soft, gentle, and ground-soaking. Thankfully! Our basement floods everytime we have a sustained hard rain. Looks like we might get more but we are on the borderline. I'm just happy with what we did get and my plants are dancing in the yard!!!
