I've got a case of mildew that was on the leaves & stems of my gourds. I pruned out all the infected leaves, but the stems still have the mildew. What I need now is something that can help get rid of the mildew that is there now. Any ideas?
I used baking soda, vegetable oil and water in equal proportions (then diluted) to protect the good leaves. This remedy was from "eyes". But, I don't think this recipe works on the mildew that's already there.
Please help! The other plants are thriving, but if the mildew reaches them, they'll soon be gone, too :(

You seemed to catch your phlox with less extensive disease than did I with my gourds. My current recipe is now baking soda, vegetable oil, water (equal proportions) plus the tea tree oil and now some epsom salts. I tried this last night.
What kind of milk do you use in your recipe (whole vitamin D milk, 2% lowfat, skim milk?) We've all sorts of varieties here so I'd try to mimic your recipe as best possible.

I use any kind of milk. It doesn't matter if its even milk powder Morph.
I was away last year for three weeks, and when I came back, one particular Phlox plant was white, completely covered with mildew.
I sprayed every day and the mildew retreated into little circles which I could then rub off with my finger then spray again. Within 6 days the plant was almost cured, although some of the lower leaves were in a terrible state, and had to be removed.
I just do it to my plants at the moment once a week, but when it gets a wee bit damp outside, then I give them the treatment every two days.
Try it out, remember any milk will do.

Hi just found this thread, and I have a huge problem with mildew every year, it's very humid here in summer.
Can you help the math impaired and tell me what the equivilent of 150cc of milk and 850cc of water is in cups maybe?

I have used one part milk to 8 parts water... I can't remember where I got that from...
but its fairly close to the 150/850 ratio.

simple calculation: 850/150 = 5.67, lets round this off to the next full number which is 6 thus 1 part of Milk to 6 parts of Water.
In cups: 1 cup of milk to 6 cups of water, in Liters (for blulytes metric lesson :) : 1 Liter of Milk to 6 Liters of Water, .... etc.
