I am curious as to when you stop fertilizing trees and shrubs. What date?

golddog...maybe it would be a good idea to stop fertilizing now...as the plants are heading towards dormancy. if your zone is cooler than 7, I would. You don't want the plants to grow on more foliage or bloom right now should you have a fast frost move in...just a suggestion...Elaine

Here in zone 5 we stop the end of July, so the new growth can harden up before frost.
